Gates Cleaners

Gates has a problem with quoting one number for an alteration, and then when you pick it up, the number has been inflated. My husband took a coat to get the sleeves altered and was told how much it would cost him, but lo and behold, when he went to pick it up, the cost was DOUBLED!!! When he complained, he was told that the issue would have to be addressed with the manager, but when we called to speak with the manager, she wouldn't return our call. When we called later in the day, she picked up the phone, told me that she was there when my husband came in to have the measurements done (she was not), and that no one quoted him a wrong price. He must have misunderstood, she said. I explained to her that the coat was given to him and he had price quoted other places and would not have gone with them had he known what they would charge him because they were higher than other cleaners and he did not want to spend that much on the coat. Her name was Dee and she told us we were out of luck. She was very argumentative and her attitude was "we got your money this time, go somewhere else next time." And that we will! This is the THIRD time that this has happened at this cleaner over the years, but until now they've corrected the bill. I don't know what's going on there - if they actually have a price list. BEWARE!!!

I recently took my cleaning to Gates after a business trip. In the btach was a nearly new black sport coat. I picked up the cleaning the next day and the coat was ruined. It had obviously been washed and pressed not dry cleaned. When I returned the garment to Gates the 2 men there accused me of washing it at home. They refused to make restitution of any kind. Never take your cleaning there.
