Joey Wieker seemed to be an easy going electrician who also was a certified radon mitigation contractor, and his business card said "Customer satisfaction is our goal." That was not my experience with him at all. I hired him to replace a radon fan and tighten a radon pipe that had come loose. I told him I wanted the fan to be inaudible inside the house, as the original one had been, and to bring the radon levels down to the same level as the original fan. He agreed to this. The fan he installed was noisy in the house and after a radon test was done, the radon levels were higher than those of the original fan. The pipe was still loose. Joey seemed agreeable and said he would replace the fan with a stronger one and not charge for the installation, only for the cost of the difference between the fan he installed and the one he would replace it with. He also agreed to tighten the pipe. Because he seemed so agreeable he was paid with the understanding he would come back and do as he promised. But he didn't. I emailed him numerous times over a period of months and he kept promising to return and never did. Finally he said he would come back and do the work if I gave him additional work, to make the trip worth his while. I told him that there would be no additional work for him, I just wanted him to do as he promised. I contacted FanTech technical support, the manufacturer of the fan he had installed, and told them about the problems with it. Tech support informed me the fan Wieker installed was not a radon fan and was not appropriate for the job. I informed Wieker but he just ignored me. I got the impression that ignoring a customer who had a problem with his work was Wieker's form of "customer service" - ignore the customer and hopefully they will go away. When I contacted the state's radon manager I discovered that Wieker was no longer a certified radon mitigation contractor. I got a certified radon mitigation contractor to finish Wieker's job and when he came out he informed me Wieker had not only failed to install the fan properly he did not even ground it. Given that Wieker is also a licensed electrician, that surprised me, though maybe it shouldn't have. I also discovered someone made a similar complaint about Wieker failing to keep a commitment to return to complete work on the BBB website.
