Oral Cancer Screening
In the United States, oral cancer kills roughly 1 person per hour, 24 hours per day. However, oral cancer is also highly treatable when detected early. At Springfield Lorton Dental Group, we take a thorough and proactive approach when it comes to oral cancer. We include an oral cancer screening as a part of your routine dental exam. In addition to our advanced Velscope technology that detects the earliest signs of oral cancer, we also help patients understand the severity of oral cancer, their specific risk factors for the disease and how to identify the warning signs at home.

Dental Sealants
While brushing and flossing remain the best ways to clean teeth and prevent the onset of tooth decay, the chewing surfaces of back teeth often contain deep pits and grooves that trap food and bacteria. Space Maintainers
Since primary teeth guide the permanent teeth into place, infants with missing primary teeth or infants who prematurely lose primary teeth may require a space maintainer, a device used to hold the natural space open. Deep Cleaning
If you have been diagnosed with mild to moderate gum disease, we may recommend scaling and root planing as a first line of defense. This is a non-surgical treatment that is often referred to as a “deep cleaning” for your gums and teeth. Scaling and root planing may be performed on two quadrants of the mouth at a time. It is designed to remove accumulated dental plaque, tartar and bacteria beneath the gum line and around the tooth root, as these conditions can cause inflammation and disease within the gums. Flap Surgery
Traditional gum surgery procedure is also referred to as flap surgery, osseous surgery or pocket reduction surgery.
