The S.A. Healy has more than 75 years of experience in the heavy construction industry. The Illinois-based general contractor was founded in 1923 by Stephen A. Healy. The company is a diversified general contractor that has constructed countless bridges, dams, sewers and water treatment plants throughout the United States. It specializes in underground construction, having excavated numerous tunnels and constructed many shafts, pipelines and underground structures. These projects include tunnels mined through mountains, as well as underwater, busy streets and city buildings, overcoming the full spectrum of geologic conditions. In 1982, Healy was purchased by and remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Impregilo S.p.A. of Milan, Italy. Impregilo was founded in 1959. Since 1982, most of the work performed in the U.S. by Impregilo has been through S.A. Healy Company. S. A. Healy is headquartered in Lomard, Ill.
