Established in 1978 Veritas has been growing great leaders since 1978. Veritas is a non-denominational Classical Christian School, member of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS) and Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Originally named Douglas County Christian School opening in 1978, the school grew and in 1998 the pursuit of academic excellence was enhanced by the implementation of a classical method of instruction. With the start of the 2004-05 school year, Veritas added 10th through 12th grades and began offering education opportunities for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, thereby becoming the only K-12 alternative to public school in Lawrence, Kansas. 6th-12th grade students participate in a variety of fine arts and athletics including football, volleyball, basketball, track, golf and cheer. Veritas graduates are highly successful in pursuit of education including ivy league schools, and becoming prominent leaders in state and national business, philanthropies, and government.
