Lakeshore Resort Community

After a thorough and pleasant conversation with the longtime owner we made the decision to lease an rv space at Lakeshore. What we did not learn on our tour was that the property was in the process of conveyance. We should have been told that.
The new owner put family members lacking property management experience in the role of on-site managers. Their lack of experience/communications skills contributed to multiple issues: community trash piling up, lake water source being purposely cut off to residents -residents who had invested in costly gardens on their spaces. As well, potentially, dangerous fires were set for the purpose of avoiding the cost of having huge brush/trash pile picked up by a professional service. The bon fire approach was risky, ruined the air quality, and disrupted the peace for community residents, leaving the shore line scorched black.
In addition, managers engaged in repeating personal information about residents to other residents -gossiping about those who were behind in rent, resident’s habits and characters, making judgments about marital relationships, etc...
This property was said to have been a safe, peaceful place that had never seen these issues prior to the transfer of ownership.
There were multiple incidences where police intervened in domestic violence issues, with arrests. As well, there was lack of background checks on prospective residents: A troubled man was rented a space. He demonstrated serious mental health issues. His behaviors were responsibly reported, but the manager’s reaction was one of annoyance, rather than responding in a professional, concerned manner.
Multiple residents shared accounts of outbursts by managers in reaction to what were routine operating issues. It was disturbing to experience and hear accounts of mngt. behaving ineptly/childishly.
Do your research. Get answers about amenities, rules in writing. Tune in to your discernment re the fitness of those that will act in role of manager.
