The Mclean Piano Studio

We've found Maria to be an exceptional piano teacher for our son Dylan. He has natural ability and she has been capably guiding and molding his talents for 2 years. The high awards he's won in piano competitions as well as in his school's percussion and wind ensembles bear this out.

There have been times where she did get strict, but these instances served to wake Dylan up and motivate him in the right direction. I've never found her to do so inappropriately, and it's only happend twice in 2 years. In fact, my wife and I have found her to be very warm and deeply caring about her students.

Regarding comments about her accounting, we've never had any issue. To the contrary, we were recently refunded for a lesson that could not be rescheduled without needing to say anything.

If your child is talented and has the drive and initiative to practice, I can think of no better teacher. The rewards for your child and yourself are more than worth it.

Also, the neighborhood where her she conducts her lessons has some beautiful trails to walk while your child is at the lesson.

My son has been taking lessons for nearly 6 years with Miss Maria and my wife and I are thrilled at our son's progress. We could not have asked for a better teacher.

My daughters have been students of Mrs. Mclean for over 3 years and have learned to love the piano. I never have to push them to practice and even had to buy a keyboard for upstairs so that there was always a piano available! She is very patient and encouraging. I have never heard her raise her voice or sound cross. We feel fortunate to have found her!

In response to the below negative review, I am deeply disturbed that someone can get online and claim a blatant falsehood without any proof. I have never spoken unkindly to a child in all the years that I have taught. I have however asked this particular parent to find another teacher after she became rude to me. She asked to enter a competition after the deadline and as a result, I was not able to enter her child. I ask anyone to speak to every student in my studio and you would hear only positive words.

Over the past weekend (2/1 through 2/4), Ms. Maria Mclean, owner and teacher at McLean Piano Studio and I had an email exchange in which she stated that payments made to her were late and thus, she was unable to register my daughter for the State Theory Test. I was sure I had made timely payment. After detailed research, I found that Ms. Mclean was not telling the truth and she had cashed my check in advance of the deadline. When I confronted her, she did not provide any explanations or apologies.

I sent my daughter to class this afternoon, thinking that the matter was settled (only $12 in question). My daughter came home crying because Ms. Mclean told her that she was "the worst student she had ever had".

Ms. Maria Mclean has failed to meet key guidelines in her code of ethics:
- The teacher shall encourage, guide and develop the musical potential of each student.
- The teacher shall treat each student with dignity and respect, without discrimination of any kind

She was neither nurturing nor encouraging to my 9-year old daughter (who is commended in both Math and Reading and has straight A's in school). I cannot have my child return to someone who is verbally abusive.

An apology to my daughter would be nice as well! It is astonishing to imagine that people that teach children can try to destroy their spirit.

Great piano teacher! Ms. Maria loves her students and makes it super fun for them to learn. She gives them prizes for practicing and has piano parties a few times a year.

Ms. Maria is a fantastic teacher who encourages her students and is by far the best teacher we have had over the years.

Both my son and daughter have been Ms. Maria's students for about five years now. They both love Ms. Maria. I will be more than happy to share our personal experience with you. :)
