Keauhou Urgent Care Center

Dr. Deana Sanchez is the best doctor there. Not only is she knowledgeable, but very understanding and COMPASSIONATE! It's a rare quality to find in doctors these days.

The facility is convenient and clean, the receptionist is very professional and she was patient with me (I was in a lot of pain and couldn't fill out the forms). She was family of some people that lived near me, so I did have a fleeting worry of my confidentiality (conditions, meds).... but like I said before: she was very professional, so I hope that extends beyond her work hours.



I had been there before, and here are my complaints about this place: the nurse (or whatever she is supposed to be) was unprofessional and did not even read my chart. This resulted in invalid urine samples. She promised to bring me some water , but forgot. When I went to the bathroom, there was nothing to dry my hands on, so I used a napkin in my purse. Right afterwards, the 'nurse' used the bathroom (my room was right next too it) and walked out WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. Really? A healthcare professional?

I arrived there at 9:15 AM on a Sunday; there was one person ahead of me in the waiting room who went back as I arrived. IT TOOK 50 MINUTES before I saw a doctor! I can't imagine what a busy day looks like....

I was at a Kauai (different island) UC last year and they billed my insurance directly, here you have to pay upfront ($160). I don't understand that, if you have reliable insurance, and you're part of an island wide chain of Urgent Cares, why can't they accept my insurance in my own town? Next time I'll try the other UC.... or if I absolutely have to go to the one in Keahou, I will call ahead to see if Dr.Sanchez is there, otherwise, I might as well go to the ER 11 miles away.... it might be quicker.

With the previous comment being said, the doctor is slow....yes. But VERY thorough, and explains every detail of your illness. You can not find doctors like this these days who will spend time with their patient and not be rushed. I would go back.

TOURISTS BEWARE. Don't waste your time here. The administrators of this place have no concept of time and just keep you waiting and waiting, while changing their "estimate" I gave up after 2 hours waiting, having initially been told it was 90 minutes wait, then 30 minutes and then 45 minutes. I guess they treat locals with priority and bump the tourists in line.
