Victor Stabin is a prolific artist whose work captures the spirit of the environment whilst inciting the illusive side of the imagination in one rousing stroke. A painter, author and well-respected illustrator, he is best known for his surreal oils that make ordinary objects and environments extraordinary, as demonstrated by his widely admired “Turtle Series” and “Fish Ferris Wheel”. In 2004, Stabin and his wife Joan Morykin purchased and renovated a 15,000 sq. ft., 170- year-old factory building in the charming, “destination” town of Jim Thorpe, PA. The “Stabin Morykin Building” can be likened to a little slice of SOHO nestled into the mountains of a storybook town. It is the home of the Victor Stabin Gallery (which presently exhibits his most current work), The Dynasty Gallery, Artist Workshop Space and the critically acclaimed Flow Restaurant. Stabin (born 1954) grew up in New York City. He has just completed “Keep Your Eye on the Ball,” a four-foot high by eight-foot wide oil-on-linen. Additionally, his debut book “Daedal Doodle”, an artistic ABC book of alliterations, will be published in early 2011 and will be available at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Book Store and on-line.
