When we first presented our empty house lot to Mathew you could see the ideas moving around in his head. We didn't want an ordinary cape house and asked Mathew to design something wonderful for us; he explained he could give us not only everything we needed but also everything we have always wanted. We had to see what he had in mind. He then designed a home for us that was very similar to a cape but as he explained our house could be "A Folk American style home with steep gables reaching to the sky and a wonderful wrap around porch settling the house into the landscape. The home should be a rich yellow with dark window sashes and large overhangs. This is what this site needs." At first it seemed too good to be true but as he developed wonderful drawings of the design of our home, I was certain that this was not only the perfect picturesque home for us but also for our property. I only wish everyone could have a home as nice as ours and have the opportunity to work with such a talented and wonderful firm as Cummings Architects!
