Teeth Cleaning
Tooth color varies from person to person, just like hair or skin. In addition to these inherent color differences, teeth can become stained on the surface by beverages such as tea, coffee, and red wine. Smoking also significantly darkens teeth. The aging process alone causes teeth to darken over time. Of course, calculus or tartar can also affect the color of the teeth and so we recommend a professional dental cleaning before beginning to bleach your teeth.
Fluoride Treatment
In some studies, patients have experienced uncomfortable short-term side effects to their teeth when having teeth bleached. Hydrogen peroxide can increase temperature sensitivity in the teeth, particularly at higher concentrations. We prefer using a lower concentration for comfort If a patient still has sensitivity we will have them alternate with at home fluoride treatments. This usually controls sensitivity.

Ice Packs. Some swelling usually occurs after periodontal surgery. To minimize this, you will be advised to use ice packs. We will supply you with a cold pack to use on the ride home. Continue to apply ice packs as much as possible the first 24 hours after surgery. Place the ice pack on the outside of your face, over the treated area, for 20 minutes, and then take it off for 20 minutes. Bruising is also possible after this surgery.

Dentures
Tooth replacement options such as tooth-supported bridges or removable partial dentures place dramatically more stress upon their supporting teeth. These teeth have to carry forces up to 27 times more than the force that a single tooth is designed to bear. This leads eventually to the failure of those supporting teeth and the cycle continues.
