Commonly referred to as â€œProfessor,â€ Mr. Holt is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Law at St. Johnâ€™s University, Jamaica, New York. He is a very experienced trial lawyer, having tried cases in many courts at many levels. His area of specialty most recently has been criminal defense, but he is expanding his work to match the other aspects of what the firm does. He has earned three degrees from St. Johnâ€™s University: a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics/Education, a Masterâ€™s in Counselor Education and a Juris Doctorate. He is a co-coach of the nationally recognized St. Johnâ€™s University Intercollegiate Mock Trial Team. He is a member of the Judiciary Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association; a past member of the Magistrate Judge Selection Committee of the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York; and former member of the New York City Mayorâ€™s Committee on the Judiciary, and the Committee on the Judiciary of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Wrongful Death
A wrongful death occurs when an individual dies as a result of someone's negligence, carelessness or wrongdoing. Assault
On November 24, a jury found Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael and William â€œRoddieâ€ Bryan guilty. Travis McMichael was found guilty of one count of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one county of false imprisonment and one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony. His father, Gregory, was found guilty of four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of false imprisonment and one criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Murder
Mr. Bryan, who recorded the shooting incident on his cell phone, was found guilty of three counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of false imprisonment and one criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Manslaughter
Mr. Chauvin was charged with two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter on May 29, 2020, three days after being fired from the force. On April 20, 2021, after deliberating for one day, a jury found Mr. Chauvin guilty on all three counts of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder.

Mr. Manuel graduated Magna Cum Laude from John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York with a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Criminology with a focus on the disproportionate incarceration rates of non-white males in the United States. As a proud member of Touro Law Centerâ€™s inaugural Two-Year Accelerated Honors Program, Mr. Manuel obtained his Juris Doctor in 2017. While attending Law School, Mr. Manuel served as the Moot Court Executive Board Program Editor, coach, and participant of Touroâ€™s National Moot Court Team. He was a CALI Award recipient for Excellence in Oral Advocacy as well as Law Practice Management. He also served as a member of the Justice Institute with the Hon.
