We went there for lunch on a Friday. The atmospere was nice, and the staff was friendly, but the food was NOT GOOD. I ordered Turkey and Swiss, and got Turkey and White American. I was not told there was a shortage of Swiss and the turkey meat tasted like that cheap deli meat that's like $.50/pack. My husband ordered a Reuben sansdwich and instead of corned beaf and swiss, he got that same cheap turkey and white american cheese, along with saurkraut. Talk about NOT a Reuben, and he was not told there would be any substitutions. I got my daughter a Grilled Cheese Plate, which the menu said with "good bread and cheese". What we got was a regular grilled cheese on the same wheat bread I had and 1 slice of american. Thank goodness we had a Groupon deal for this because it was NOT WORTH IT. For the money we spent, we could have went to the grocery store and bought better quality ingredients and made the same thing at home way better.
Also - for the same money, we could've went to the Frieght House which has way better food.
For a place that is only open 3 hours a day, they really need to have fresh ingredients and actually serve you what you order, which is what's on the menu. Do not need to go back here

The entire experience is overrated. My cake tasted like a betty crocker special and the rest of the food was bland. The staff seemed stressed out by one of the other workers yelling orders at them. He was upset because everyone came in at once and just couldn't handle the rush. He made it seem chaotic when it really wasn't. Over all, I was really disappointed.

This unusual restaurant in downtown Hartselle has been skillfully decorated with antiques, vintage clothing, and all kinds of "retro" kitsch. (It is impossible to frown as you notice all the goofy '50s, '60s, and '70s knickknacks looking down at you from old cupboards and bookshelves!) It also has very good, reasonably priced "comfort" food, daily specials, and chocolate cake like somebody's mom used to make. My only "complaint" as such is that it is only open for lunch on weekdays, and, thus, we cannot enjoy the food and charming, cheering atmosphere for dinner or on weekends.
