Discount Two Way Radio

Had items at shop unlike others from which I had to order it and get it shipped. But sadly that is the only reason I purchased from dtwr. After telling the guy that I wanted to buy a mobile antenna with gain and hook it up to a handheld via bnc adapter(already had the adapter) I was told that they only had 2 antennas to choose from. One had no gain and the other had 3db. Ok so I went with the 3db one. Then the guy attempted to show me how an antenna with gain works by using the balloon method. Not even at one point did he ask me anything about the operation area of the antennas use to see what antenna would work best.

He brought the radio with bnc adapter back to show the tech what I wanted and the tech told him that the adapter I had wouldn't work(yes I've used it before with good results). So the tech handed him the supposed right adapter. Was told mine wouldn't work but luckily they had one that would but at 20$ I wouldn't dare buy it. Guy said only 5$ above cost. Finally explaining to the guy that the adapter I bought was from a dealer that sold only icom parts for icom radios. So he took the radio and adapter back to the tech who tested it and hey it worked perfectly.

While I did purchase what I came for and was able to get it that day. I refuse to buy from any shop that where the
employees try to act like they know about radios. I'm not an expert but I do know enough. And yes I already knew about the balloon antenna theory
