Party Rentals by Lisa

Do not use... Take your money elsewhere! Horrible customer service! The owner lied about my reservation and then rented the bounce house. My sons party is two weeks away... Used them in the past but will never use them again or recommend.

I rented a popcorn popper from them for an event for my daughter at our church. Got it without a problem. During the event however, I head a scream and someone yell "fire". I ran to the area where the popcorn machine was covered with blue electrical arcs and the bin full of popcorn was on fire. I quickly unplugged the machine and put out the fire with an extinguisher. One of the church maintenance staff cleaned it out and pointed to the source of the problem...a short circuit in the popper pan where the electrical cord went into the bottom of the pan.



When I took it back, the person who identified himself as Lisa's husband checked it out and said "really...it caught on fire?" He and a couple of other people looked at it, and he said "Lisa will have to work it out with you...I'm just the husband. I will have her call you when she gets in." Well, the husband called back and said that they discussed it and would credit me $106 dollars back instead of the $160 total I paid. I asked why was that all and he said because I used some of the popcorn and bags. I said yes, I used about 20 or so bags, but the rest of the popcorn burned up during the fire. I said the last thing expected from them was for them to nickel and dime me over this...for God's sake, my sister and law was making the popcorn, and she could have died if she was touching the machine when the short circuit happened. He told me I would need to talk with Lisa. I got off the phone and went straight over there. When Lisa asked me if I had been taken care of, I said no, we weren't in agreement with the solution. She told me that she was with another customer and I would have to wait, and I said "sure, no problem". After about 10 minutes, she stopped working with the customer and took me to the back and asked why I disagreed with her offer. I repeated the story and asked if it was right to charge me for popcorn that burned up in her machine. She went into that it was not her fault that there was an electrical problem...that I am trying to put the blame on her. I reiterated that it was the machine that shorted out...not the outlet that it was plugged into. She continued on her chosen path, saying how could I hold her responsible for an electrical malfunction. If I was at home watching tv, and the tv malfunctioned, would I hold someone else responsible. At that point, i was really bewildered at the attitude of this business person with a bible scripture on the wall of the showroom and the Serenity prayer sitting on her desk, and I told her so. That's when she told me that she would contact my church and ask my pastor to pray for her, but who am I to question her Christianity. I replied I wasn't questioning her Christianity, but how she was doing business with obvious Christian scripture in her sales area. Her husband was watching the whole exchange and actually seemed embarassed. At that point, I finally had enough and just said I would chalk it up as a learning experience and know not to use them ever again for personal or business uses. As I walked out the door, in what you might take as some sort of peace offering, she said "Well I will give it some more thought..."



So that's my review that I posted for two reasons. One, so you will know the type of business you are dealing with if you decide to use them for your party rental needs. And two, as I drove off after dropping off the popper, I saw the staff looking the popper over, I wondered if they would replace it or rent it out again putting someone else at risk. So ifyou rent a popcorn popper that has a handle missing on one of the doors, beware...it's the same one that could cause you harm.
