I have been a customer with O'Donnell for over a year - since moving to the Philadelphia area. Today they told me to take my business elsewhere because I dared tell them PECO had done an energy audit for me. They told me that I obviously had no faith in them and didn't trust them so I should just move on and take my business with me. I've never been so appalled in my life. Here I am, a loyal customer, trying to be honest with them and asking them for help and they tell me to get lost! Who needs that??!!



I have called three times over the past few months, trying to talk to a technician or the owner, but Jill, an office helper, would not let me talk to anyone. She was only willing to send someone to my house. Same thing happened again today. All I wanted to do was talk to an expert about the furnace they installed in my house and I couldn't get past the receptionist!



That tells me that O'Donnell is not interested in building relationships - and that their relationships are totally one-sided. I would give them zero stars if I could.



I treat service providers with respect and I expect the same in return.

Regarding John O’Donnel l Heating and Plumbing in Glenside. I try to support the local businesses but am tired of being treated poorly. When has customer service gone out the window? I know I am a customer because the money is coming out of my bank, but I surely am not treated as one. I have used this local company for a few heating issues and felt as though I was paying top dollar but thought I was doing the right thing supporting the local businesses. I set up an appointment for 12-4 to turn on my heater and service it for the winter. I took the day off and sat and waited. At 3 I received a call saying they were running late. Ok. At 4 I received a call saying they were not coming and I needed to reschedule. I was not happy having taken the day off and waiting and I was told that the same may happen again but if I got the first apt at 8 am I would be sure to get serviced. So I took the first 8 am which I had to wait another week for and again took the day off. At 8:30 I called to find out where the workers were, not at my house. I was told I had a 12-4 apt. At this point I was exasperated and explained my case again. I was told there was nothing that could be done. Ok so I said at least I will have someone out between 12-4. I was told oh no that all the appointments were taken for the day. I said, yes and I am one of those you just said was scheduled. The reply was yes but we are overscheduled and you will be bumped. I ask to speak to the owner and was told I was speaking to her. I said this is not acceptable and she refused to even consider getting someone out to me nor would she consider a discount for my already taking off two days of work and being expected to continue to do this indefinitely. I am truly exasperated. I will not be treated this way and pay for it! I hope you will join me in helping to make the “customer” heard once again and not utilized this or any company that treats their clientele this way.

Had them out for a gas leak in my heater, tried to charge me $672.91 for $93.55 part and would have gotten away with it if I hadn't googled the part price on the internet when the tech was still here, nice way to take advantage of someone who has no heat on a Sunday afternoon. Wouldn't go near this company ever again with those kind of business ethics

I'm happy with the level of service that I received from O'Donnell & Sons. Our A/C stopped blowing cold air, so we made the call. The technician showed up first thing the following morning and diagnosed the issue. Our unit was fixed and blowing cold again within the hour. The service was prompt and professional, and I was able to use the coupon for additional saving. Dealing with a contractor should be a simple, straightforward and hassle-free experience, and this absolutely was, so I would definitely recommend this company to other homeowners.

Last March I called O'Donnell...

Last March I called O'Donnell when my heater died and had a really good experience with this company. When I called I got a person on the phone immediately, they were at my home early the next day, gave me a good price on a new heater, finished the job that day and left a very clean basement. But the reason I'm writing this review now is that for the third month in a row I'm saving over $100 a month on heat compared to same time last year. After being very disappointed with a previous plumber, I was very happy with this company.

Needed a new furnace and centr...

Needed a new furnace and central A/C. John O'Donnell and Sons were highly recommended to me. Tim and crew came out very soon after I called. They completed the big job in one day. They did not disappoint! They were very professional, neat and efficient and did an excellent job. Extremely happy with service and product. Several weeks later had a backed up toilet. Tim once again was here immediately and fixed the problem. These are the best plumbers ever. Bridget and Gretchen in the office answered all questions and were extremely helpful. Another plus - they have a price book where you can see the exact charge for each service - wish more companies in every field would use a book like that! You can't go wrong with this company. Will recommend to everyone I know.

I can’t speak highly enough ...

I can’t speak highly enough about the service we received from O’Donnell and Sons Plumbing. We needed to replace the faucets in a whirlpool tub that was surrounded by white tile with no “trouble door”! I had nightmares about having to re-tile the whole bathroom. Tim, from O’Donnells, came out and neatly cut out a trouble door. When he was finished installing the faucets, he screwed that section of tile back into a stud. I only had to grout between the tiles he removed and then paint the screws with appliance touch -up paint. The price was exactly what I was quoted so I knew what I would be paying. A few years ago, they installed a new water heater for us. I was very pleased with the way they performed that job also. I would certainly use them again.

Happy Customer Here!

We decided to remodel a second bathroom of our home immediately following the first bathroom remodel. John O'Donnell & Sons crew is skilled, hard working, on time, available and honest. It was a pleasure working with a contractor who actually did what he is contracted to do in a timely manner. Each day they were respectful of our property and left our home in the best possible condition.



We have also used John O'Donnell & Sons for heating needs and thier service was equally as prompt and professional.

Wish I had paid more attention to the 1 prior bad review

Support local professionals not local scammers. Had them do a sewer video inspection on a home we were purchasing, first guy got the camera stuck on a "break in the line" and called for backup. Second guy called, managed to get their snake jammed in there too. Finally they called John and got their equipment out three hours later. They charged me an extra $350 because they had to use their snake to free the camera before they would give me their written report for negotiating with the sellers.

Seller's plumber took 15mins to prove their "break" was actually a check valve to prevent back-flow. Contacted John and Gretchen, their only response was "sometimes we all make mistakes" and refused to even refund even 1/2 of the $700 I wasted. Never-ever use these clowns.

Mr. Michels, I am fully aware of the fact that mistakes were made on your job. Let me express to you that this is not how we handle ourselves and that sometimes mistakes are made. The technician is no longer with our company. I think there may be some confusion with the pricing but I never refused to refund money to you. I had made several requests to you via email asking how you would like to resolve the situation and did not hear back from you. It is possible that you overlooked the emails or maybe they went to a spam or junk folder. My apologies if that was the case. You were completely in the right, we made a mistake. As far as the charges the price of the gator camera was told to you upfront and the pricing to clear the drain was also advised in advance and was not free the camera but to clear the drain and we provided a written report immediately, this having nothing to do with how much money you paid. I can understand your frustration. I do feel that we a communication breakdown and for this I do apologize. I am sorry that the service provided to you was not up to our standards and also for the inconvenience and stree this has caused you.

Excellent Customer Service!

I hired O'Donnell & Sons because our air conditioning completely stopped working. The fan would run but there was no cold air. The tech came out within 12 hours of my call and quickly diagnosed the issue. They needed to special order a part, which worried me because the house was hot, and I didn’t want to go for days this way with children in the home. They assured me that the part would be rushed over night and that they would be here to fix it the very next day. Not only did they follow through with their promise, but the price more than reasonable. I found O'Donnell & Sons to be extremely professional and competent and I will definitely use them again.

They got out to my house quickly, but after determining my A/C needed refrigerant, the guy tried to charge me almost three times what other companies charge, plus the service fee. He then had the nerve to tell me that this was the going rate in the industry. Its terrible that this company thinks they can rip people off because they may not know much about the service being provided. I would advise anybody to go somewhere else.

Quality, Prompt Service!

As soon as a tried running my A/C this year and knew there was a problem. I'm glad I went with O'Donnell and Sons because the price was in line with others and they didn't try to sell me unnecessary products and do a dog and pony show. The service tech was prompt, professional and quickly pinpointed the issue and fixed it. He didn't have to leave and come back 5 times. Moving forward I will definitely call these guys for any air/plumbing needs I have. It's obvious they run a tight ship! I also like that they are locally based in Montgomery County.

They did a very good job of asking questions over the phone before sending someone out. The guy showed up and was able to replace a part to fix our A/C. I thought we would need to replace the entire A/C unit because it's getting up there in age, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it was not necessary at this time. I really appreciate the honesty.

I have been dealing with John O'Donnell and Sons since 1972. I would not think of calling anyone else. Their prompt and courteous service cannot be beat. All of their mobile units are prepared for any job, and if it's not on the truck another tech shows up within fifteen minutes with what is need to complete the job.

The All Around Best!

John O'Donnell & Sons was there for me in an emergency situation last winter and I am so thankful that I called them! They impressed me with prompt & professional service. They listened carefully to my heating issue, asked me questions and arrived at my home prepared to handle the issue. My heat was restored and their cost was more than reasonable even with the after-hours situation that my call involved. Since then, I have used John O'Donnell & Sons for plumbing problems as well. The service is always the same - friendly & fantastic!
