Two weeks ago today, she gave me the news that every cancer patient longs to hear: "you're cancer free." Those words, which at times I thought would never come, became a realty because of the hard work and devotion of Dr. Zhang. In short, I met Dr. Zhang on the Friday after Thanksgiving 2020 while on a zoom call. I had been admitted at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma a few days before; suffering from a compression fracture of the number 3 lumbar (whatever that is). A previous MRI had revealed possible malignant tissue around the area of the spine and Dr. Zhang took it upon herself to discover the cause. The following day, while most folks were celebrating the long weekend holiday, Dr. Zhang called practically every cat scan team in Western Washington and eventually found a team that was willing to travel to Tacoma. The scam was performed that day and i learned that i had stage 3 non-hodgkins lymphoma. At that moment, I surrendered my fate to God and to the loving and capable hands of Dr. li Zhang. It has been a long road to recovery. I was admitted into St. Joseph's on two further occasions due to the side effects of the chemotherapy treatment. Further, I had to take a three month break between chemo-sessions 2 and 3 because of a wound that developed during my initial hospital stay. While I panicked, Dr. Zhang remained calm and confident. My family and I than God that Dr. Zhang came into our lives. She is a credit to her profession and to Northwest Medical Specialties. Thank you Li Zhang M.D.
