A classic small-town BBQ joint, nothing fancy. Maybe even a few flies around. But *GOOD* barbeque!!!!! Their ribs (regular or sweet) are smoky, juicy and lick-off-the-bone tender. Good slaw and potato salad, too. Everything they sell is good. This is absolutely on my short go-to list for 'Q.

This modest BBQ joint is patronized almost exclusively by the local blue collar carnivores. There are two smallish dining rooms; the smoking room is separated from the non-smokers by a wall. You can always tell the non-smoking section because there are no ash trays on the tables. The ash trays in the smoking section are emptied regularly once a month whether they are quite full to overflowing or not. We ordered the beef brisket and the ribs. Trust us; get the brisket and forget the ribs. Oh, the ribs aren't bad if you put enough BBQ sauce on them. (The BBQ sauce is in the brown squeeze bottle on every table. The red squeeze bottle is the catsup put there for the benefit of patrons who mistakenly order French fries instead of potato salad.) Furnishings and decor are minimal to say the least. So are the plastic plates and cheap utensils. You order at the counter by the front door, and they bring your plate to you. Unless you get there when it's crowded, service is prompt. We thought the food could have been a little hotter when it came to our table. If you order tea, they always ask, "Sweet or unsweet?" The presumption is that you're too stupid to take a glass of ice tea and add your own sweetening at the table. The ribs were mediocre at best, but perfectly edible. The brisket was among the best we've had in recent years! It was lean, and tasty, and so tender you could easily eat it with a spoon. You could probably eat it through a soda straw! The regular combo plate (two meats and two sides) is $9 as of mid-2008. The LARGE combo plate is a dollar extra--we say go for it. Take-out BBQ is also available here.
