Maravillas Southwestern Grill and Cantina

I don't do reviews, but Maravillas is so good that I had to make an exception. We had planned on having dinner at Catfish Cove, but the line was outside the door, so the wife suggested we try that new place.

We have a new favorite! The atmosphere is pleasant, not garish or overdone, just classy. The menu doesn't have a few things that I'm used to seeing, but they have a goodly selection of sauces to accompany your enchiladas, rellenos, burritos, or other entree selection. All entrees have a selection of sides to accompany them,

I chose the carnitas with roasted corn off the cob, and Spanish rice. The rice was good, but the rest of the meal was amazing! I've loved Southwestern (mex/tex-mex) food since I was very young, and the corn had a great smoky and buttery flavor, but the carnitas were over the moon! Very tender chunks of pork sauteed in a slightly sweet ancho chile sauce hooked me! To top things off, we were treated to a complimentary dessert sampler that included small portions of flan, Mexican flag cake, and tres leches cake. The flan was very good, slightly more firm than the usual fare, The tres leches was the best I've ever had, and the flag cake came home with me in a to-go box with nearly half of my dinner. The service was courteous and attentive without being annoying.

Altogether a great experience!
