IRRESPONSIBLE & UNPROFESSIONAL ATTORNEY!



My husband and I had contacted Miae Park for closing of our Manhattan co-op two weeks ago. After making an appointment via email to sign a binding agreement, we had a couple of questions regarding the building’s financial status. To avoid wasting everyone’s time, we emailed our questions four business days before our appointment. She never responded whether she would look into the matter or not.



On the day of the appointment, she emphasized numerous times about how she thought our meeting was cancelled when neither party has cancelled. She must’ve spent 15 minutes looking for our folder because her room was filled with piles and of folders. Although we offered to come back, she kept insisting for us to stay since we’re in her office anyway.



To make the long story short, she withdrew her commitment of service on the signing day of our binding agreement. Miae Park was highly offended because we asked her to get answers for the co-op’s financial status. She was so upset that her voice was trembling when she spoke. I kept telling her to calm down, which probably didn’t help now that I think about it...



She suggested us to look for another attorney because she’s a “conventional lawyer” who prefers to speak over the phone than emails. (my husband and I work in professions where we cannot be on the phone while we’re working)



Bottom line-She’s an old school lawyer who worked in the field of law for more than twenty years working for non-English speaking Koreans who do not ask her questions. She wants clients that would sign papers where she wants you to, including your checkbook without asking any questions!
