A new cable connection was installed in the attic pictured below. The contractor did a poor job cleaning up and left failed to reinstall much of the attic insulation. As a result, the heat loss caused an ice dam. The end result included drywall and gutter damage. This could have been avoided if the thermal boundary was not compromised.

Gutters
6” Seamless gutters can be custom fabricated to any length to meet the contours of your house. Seamless gutters are much more effective at draining water than those sold at big box stores that have seams every 10 feet. A practical material for the gutters is prepainted aluminum in a thickness of.032 aluminum. 5” gutters are not recommended for most applications as they are too small. Gutters with greater pitch can drain water more rapidly than level gutters.
Siding
Counter and step flashing are often used together. Step flashing can be placed behind siding, while counter flashing cannot. Step flashing is used with any type of siding as long as you cover the top of it with another piece of cladding.

I contacted this company for multiple leaks on my roof. They sent someone to inspect my roof the even took the extra step to get in my attic to find my leaks which I thought was very impressive. From what I can see they used quality parts for repairing my leaking vent pipes. They also repaired some missing shingles and a few other items. The thing that really was amazing is the estimate is actually what it cost no extras added. I will use this company again for any roof repairs or replacement. Honest company!!

Roof Vents
Hail damage to an asphalt shingle roof is easy to discover on light colored shingles. The lighter granules contrast with the interior of the shingle, which is black. When dark shingles or shingles that contain black granules are impacted from hail, the damage is more difficult to detect. These shingle colors include brown, gray and black. (There is not a single photo of a black roof with hail damage depicted on Google Images.) Insurance adjusters and inexperienced roofing professionals are sometimes unable to detect hail damage on dark roofs. Insulation
1. Electrical Cables do not prevent an ice dam from occurring. They are a reactive measure that does not address the cause of the ice dam formation, usually an inefficient attic insulation system.
Masonry
We install counter flashing on brick/masonry walls above the roof surface to cover the top of other flashing, such as step flashing. This directs the flow of water away to prevent leaks. Flashings should always overlap so water does not run behind the top of the flashing and get into the building.
Caulking
Caulk is a sealant that is used for a variety of residential applications. The main purpose for caulking is to provide a waterproof sealant between two surfaces. The ideal application for caulk is in an area that provides consistent conditions with low changes in temperatures. Caulk has elastic properties but as it ages and dries out this elasticity weakens. As temperatures rise and lower, caulking is forced to expand and contract which will break the seal it makes between two surfaces. If caulk is applied anywhere on the exterior of your home, especially the roof, it has an increased chance of failing. UV rays from the sun can cause caulk to dry out, crack, and shrink making it ultimately ineffective. Any application on the inside of a house works best for applying caulk and creating an effective seal. The interior of your house has a relatively consistent temperature ranging around 70 degrees without any large swings upward or downward in those temperatures making it ideal for applying caulk to your bathroom, sinks, windows, etc.
