Dental Care
We offer dental cleanings for dogs and cats. Regular dental prophylaxis (cleaning and polishing helps keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy. Your pet will be placed under anesthesia and monitored constantly during the dental cleaning and polishing. We begin by taking oral X-rays of mouth.Then scale the teeth with an ultrasonic scaler to remove the calculus that is on the teeth below the gum line. We then use hand scaling tools to remove calculus that is below the gum line. After all the calculus is removed the teeth are polished to remove any small grooves that may have been created during the scaling process so that bacteria have no place to hide. After polishing, the mouth is rinsed and any necessary extractions will be performed. Extractions may need to be done for a number of reasons such as a broken tooth, gum recession, root exposure, carries and the list goes on.
