Great Service!

I brought my Great Dane to be groomed by Chuck. I was wary of leaving him alone since he's so big and people sometimes don't know how to handle giant breed dogs. Chuck was so nice and let me stay in the shop with him while my baby was groomed. He is very knowledgeable about dogs and before I even said anything, chose a sensitive shampoo for my dog since Danes are prone to skin conditions. He was great with filing the nails and was very patient with my dog when he got scared of the noise the nail grinder made. He takes his time to make sure it's a good experience for everyone involved. My dog loved it so much even after I took the bandana off, he carried it around for weeks almost like he was showing me what he got and asking to go back. I have to side with the groomer on the other user's comments. I wouldn't want to work with a groomer who wasn't concerned with the health and temperament of dogs that will be in his care. The owner in this case should feel more secure knowing that this is a reputable business instead of being miffed at the policy. I could only see this being inconvenient to someone who doesn't keep their pets inoculations up to date. How hard is it to get a copy of shot records? I keep a copy in my house.

Expert Groomer

I have been taking my yorkie to Chuck on a regular basis since September 2001 and I have recieved excellent service. My yorkie runs into Chuck's business and he would not do this if Chuck had not always taken good care of him and treated him well. Chuck genuinely cares for animals and this is evident when you ACTUALLY GO INTO his place of business and meet him! I personally believe that it is a good idea for the groomer to meet the pet and the owner before agreeing to accept the pet because this way you get to see how the groomer interacts with your pet. My yorkie is just liike a member of my family and I would never consider leaving my child anywhere before first meeting the person that is responsible for his/her well-being and care. I get compliments all the time on how well my yorkie is groomed and I always tell people about Chuck's Pet Grooming & Boarding. So that, I guess, is how he stays in business. His clients prasie him to like-minded pet lovers and they take their animals to him. I have never recomended one pet owner to him who resented his poilicies and they have all stayed with Chuck. I am sorry for this individual's pet becasue they have missed out on a wonderful relationship he/she could have had with Chuck.

THE BEST AROUND!!

I have been bringing my Yorkie to Chuck for more than 10 years and he is the ONLY groomer to whom I would take her. When I pick her up she always looks and smells WONDERFUL!! Chuck has always given her adorable bows and/or bandanas to match the season/holiday, too. One of the most important facets to Chuck's grooming is that he takes into account what the owner's lifestyle is and not just the "specific breed cut." If one has a busy lifestyle, he will make recommendations that upkeep easier on the owner AND the dog (this often has varied season to season) In addition to Chuck's expert grooming, I found that I am able to seek his advice in almost all areas of my dog's care (except medical issues, of course). He has given me excellent tips on housebreaking, feeding, as well as behavioral issues.

far as the issue the other reviewer raised re: shots and the need for Chuck to meet the dog, I am in total agreement and understanding with Chuck on this issue. I would not DARE to take any animal into my business/care without having proper documentation of health/vaccinations. This would be for my sake and for the health and welfare of the other animals around that animal. Meeting an animal is also extremely important to a good groomer, and should be to an owner! I would not drop off one of my dogs to just ANYBODY, and a good groomer does not just accept ANY dog. Dogs have all sorts of temperaments and no groomer should have to get bitten to make an owner happy. Of course, the best way to deal with getting a dog groomed is to begin when the dog is YOUNG, get it done REGULARLY (not once a year) and try to stick with the same groomer (if possible).

To answer the question about how Chuck has remained in business, he has remained in business due to loyal customers based on years of excellent care of our pets and referrals by those of us who appreciate diligent work.

My reasoning behind requiring a meeting and seeing shot records for new clients was put into effect to protect each and every pet that enters my business. As I have tried to explain to all new clients, this is not in any way meant to be offensive or in any way state that your pet is not a well socialized and current on vaccinations but to protect your pet from those that are not. I have and always will protect all pets that are entrusted to my care, that is how I have stayed in business since Oct. 2, 1995.
