Services/Products
Who my clients are: Adults (including elders) with a variety of issues, individually & in groups. Grief & loss (including pet loss), life transitions (aging, career change, beginning school, relocating, divorce, e.g.), identity issues, enhancing self-esteem and a sense of direction or life purpose. I have successfully worked with people of many different faiths, ethnicities, and backgrounds, including the LBGT community. For cancer patients: Though I do not provide general couples' or family counseling, if you are a cancer patient or otherwise seriously ill, your caregiver and family members may attend with you, if you wish. Our focus would be the impact cancer is having on your life, from diagnosis, through treatment, remission and cure, or recurrence. We can also discuss any end-of-life issues you'd like help with. What is therapy at Life In Motion like? Eclectic, client-centered, & holistic. Respectful & collaborative. My clients set the agendas & priorities in our work together. The theoretical orientations I make most use of include: existential, relational, Gestalt, expressive arts, mind-body skills, & some CBT. My passion is partnering people dealing with change, whether too much or too little. It is a privilege to facilitate & support your increasing ability to live the life you envision for yourself, and creating the Self you want to be. How change can happen: It's easier to "do ourselves" differently when we more fully understand how we do ourselves right now! Heightening awareness of our current experiences & our truest wants enlarges the range of possiblities and options available to us. Being more aware & intentional gives a greater sense of making choices for ourselves, instead of "having" or "being made" to choose because of our circumstances or others' wants & preferences. Taking more responsibility for our choices frees us from a great deal of anxiety & depression, self-doubt, guilt, and stress. That, in turn, means living more joyfully, confidently, creatively, with more energy, direction, and sense of purpose. I'm not falling apart or crazy. Why should I consider counseling? To increase support when life is more challenging. To explore & discover. To learn ways to take what you already have & make it work for you in new ways. To grow into parts of yourself you didn't know were there. To reconcile & resolve, to find out & live what's most important to you. For the encouragement to become wholly, fully yourself.

Amenities
What I offer that's a little different: My background in professional theater & my current work as a creative writer allow us to make use of expressive arts & body process approaches, if you'd like to experiment with them. I'm interested, but still not sure. Wondering if we would work well together? Call for a free phone consultation, and let's see. You can also check out LifeInMotion.com, or contact me by email. I'd love to, but I can't afford it right now. If cost is the only thing standing in the way of your engaging in therapy, phone me. I am willing to consider a sliding scale for clients who are ready & motivated for us to work together.
