Chair Massage
Kristy is available for private sessions at her office suite in the east end of Duluth in the Chester Creek Garden Building (kitty corner from Sara’s Table restaurant), or can travel off-site for chair massage sessions in corporate / small business settings, as well as in-home services for disabled people. Kristy also works in the physical rehab unit at the Benedictine Living Facility, enriching patients’ pain management experience as they heal from trauma.

Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi Massage

The Shiatsu Method is a holistic healing art developed in Japan and based on traditional 3500 year old oriental medical wisdom. The theory of traditional Chinese medicine proposes that energy, otherwise known as chi (or qi), moves through the body in pathways known as meridians. Each meridian is connected to an internal organ and carries the energy of that organ's functioning. Good health is reliant upon the harmonious flow of chi through the meridians and internal organs.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy works with the attachments and insertions of the muscles in a very strategic way to release the blockage of muscle blood flow. Pressure to the trigger points helps to release restricted tissue and increase circulation. NMT is often used for aid in injuries and chronic conditions. Through the softening of trigger points, NMT aims to reduce chronic pain, increase range of motion, and correct postural distortions.

Myofascial Therapy
Myofascial Release is a highly effective and safe technique that involves applying sustained gentle pressure into the connective tissue fibers called fascia. Fascia is a web that holds the whole body together, wrapping around every muscle, blood vessel, organ, vein, bone, nerve, even each single cell in the body. This connective tissue is a very strong and sticky substance that benefits from hydration, much like a car does oil. When restrictions are created through chronic dehydration, trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures (scar tissue), Myofascial Release can be administered to eliminate pain and restore full motion. Each Myofascial Release Therapy session is performed directly on the skin without oils or creams. This enables the therapist to find restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of pressure.
Acupuncture
I have had an amazing Journey being on the corner of Lake and Superior street for the past 8 years. It has been a place of refuge right in the middle of Babylon, I call it the healing temple. it has felt like a temple to me always, the high ceilings and grand expansive feeling in such a quant spot. About 5 years ago, I did a remodel to the space which made it perfect for me in so many ways. My fist few years there was primarily credited to Emily Heart, an amazing acupuncturist in our North land Midst. She had a vision to share spaces with as many healers as would like to gather there. At one point we had 12 of us up there, and 4 treatment room/offices, offering many services with great heart. Reiki, yoga, community acupuncture, private Acupuncture, massage, herbal apothecary, herbal consulting, goods and festival planning and celebrations.... I am probably forgetting something, it felt like a lot. We called ourselves Rooted Folks Community Wellness. Semi slowly it began to dwindle back and back until at last (for the past 5 years), it has been just me up in that space. Emily had moved her practice home for quite a while... and a year and a half ago or so, she reopened Rooted Folks Center for evolution in Superior WI with her twin Sister Blaire. I am happy to see it find growth and new life, as we all continue on.
