General Info: Douglas Elementary School provides academic programs with emphasis on the development of basic learning and thinking skills. It offers classes in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The schools academic curriculum includes classes in art, physical education, general music, informational technology and multimedia instruction. Douglas Elementary School also provides classes in foreign languages that include Spanish. It offers a variety of reading intervention and gifted and talented educational programs. The school provides instructive sessions related to technology, art, gardening, journalism, mathematics and creative problem solving. Douglas Elementary School s Community Recreation department provides sports activities, such as in basketball, football, softball, baseball and soccer. It is governed by Saugatuck Public Schools, which is community-centered school system that serves more than 1,000 students pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The district additionally governs Saugatuck Middle School and Saugatuck High School, as well as an early childhood center. Douglas Elementary School is located in Douglas, Mich.
