Newly remodeled lobby looks amazing! Always fantastic pizza and prices are great as long as you use a coupon.

We Never Got What We Ordered

Hungry Howie's are everywhere and boast the same flavors wherever you go. So, when we recently moved to DeWitt and wanted a quick meal, we went with "Old Reliable". However, "Old Reliable" was not what we got. I didn't have a car one evening, was home with sick children, and needed a quick meal that everyone would eat. I called Hungry Howie's downtown for delivery of a medium pizza, breadsticks, and wings. They said it be 30-40 minutes. At 50 minutes, when the kids started whining, I called them back to check on the status of my delivery. They said the gentleman would be there in a minute. I guess I took that to mean very shortly since we only live six blocks away. At the 1 hour and 5 minute mark I started to call again. This time the kids were starting to cry that they were hungry and wanted snacks while they waited. They again said he would be right there. Low and behold he was, less than five minutes later. So, while I was already upset about waiting twice as long as originally told, and wishing I had just called one of their competitor's, the real disappointment came with the food. The pizza was luke-warm, the breadsticks were overly flavored and nothing like the Howie sticks we were used to, and the wings were small and very fatty. But, on top of all that I started to realize that I had been overcharged by several dollars. I grabbed the menu and coupon flyer we had received in that Sunday's paper and re-calculated what the delivery driver told me I owed. There was a $6.00 difference. I knew that they didn't charge $6.00 to deliver, but called to double check since we rarely ever have pizza delivered. During the call I pointed out the discrepancy to the gentleman I had placed the order with on the phone. He said that the difference came in the price I stated for the breadsticks and wings. I grabbed the flyer and read them off. He said that they were each a couple dollars more. I checked the date on the flyer (which didn't expire for a full month yet) and verified that it was indeed their address on the back. When I confronted him with this, he responded, "Well, we had a price increase." And that was that. I had planned on phoning the manager but allowed it to lapse. A month later we decided to try it again, hoping that it was just a bad night for them and our bad luck. When we brought the pizza home it lacked the ranch flavored crust we had ordered and was not well-done, but gooey still in the center. To top it off, the cashier was rude, unattentive, and acted like we were bothering him. We'd like to say that our first experience with this Hungry Howie's Pizza was an isolated event, however it seems to be the trend with this place. We now order from Relli's, also in the downtown area, or from Little Caesar's.
