Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is just a special kind of filling, deep into your tooth's root(s). A local anesthetic is often used to numb the area of your mouth to ensure the procedure is pain-free. The doctor will then make a small opening in the top of your tooth in order to remove the pulp from inside your tooth. The tooth is then cleaned out and shaped to a form that will receive a special filling later. This treatment may take more than one appointment to complete. Dr. Tom grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated with a bachelor’s of science in Biology from Marquette University. He followed in his father's footsteps and decided he wanted to be a dentist. He went on to Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove, IL, and graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency program at the University of Chicago’s Evanston Hospital. During the program he received advanced training in all aspects of Dentistry including Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics and Endodontics. Dr. Tom also gained extensive experience in treating trauma and other dental emergencies through Emergency room call during residency. He continues to learn new techniques and advancements in the dental field through continuing education courses. Dr. Tom is an active member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Association.
