Do Not Hire This Contractor! This job started in early July and we finally received the last of the materials in mid Oct. I made the mistake of paying them 60% of the total contract price at the beginning of the job for purchase of materials and another 25% when the cabinets arrived.

They told us the job would be completed in 3 weeks. One of the reasons I hired this company was because we wanted it done fast. This job was supposed to be completed by Aug 12th. If I would have known it would take this long, I would have hired another contractor or done it myself. My wife stayed at home every day for over 3 months waiting for contractors to show up. They rarely showed up before 10am and often took days off. They came less than half of the days during the 3 months. Owners never stick to what they say is going to be done on certain days.

There was no project manager, foreman, quality control, or any effort to see how the job was progressing or more importantly, the lack of progress. They have sent 12 or more different guys. There is a major lack of communication between management and contractors. I believe they are all hired from Craigslist. They kept sending one contractor at a time for each part of the job. All of the guys that worked on the kitchen had to come back and fix or redo issues due to poor workmanship and poor communication with the management of Kitchens 2 Go. Their many different contractors made a mess of our house, both inside and outside, and did a poor job of cleaning up before they left (on the days they did show up). The majority of the kitchen was done with very poor quality craftsmanship.

It’s been over 3 ½ months and the kitchen remodel isn't finished yet. I can’t begin to count the number of phone calls we’ve made try to get mistakes corrected and get the kitchen finished.

All of our cabinets have no doors or drawer fronts. We have the doors and drawer fronts but they are not stained or finished. 4 of the doors will need to be bought by us due to the wrong door being ordered by Kitchens 2 Go. Our new $2000 refrigerator was scratched during installation. The microwave was installed wrong. I had to remove and reinstall it. I installed the dishwasher, disposer, and range because I couldn’t trust their people to do it correctly.

The kitchen is still barely usable. We will not let them back due to the damage to our appliances. We have already had to hire another plumber to correct mistakes their 3 different plumbers made.

We will have to hire a competent contractor to fix all the mistakes and complete the kitchen at our expense.

We paid thousands of dollars for bad work. So heed our warning and don't hire them!

I don't believe they'll be in business long with their unprofessional work ethic.

Very Poor Quality Craftsmanship

Very Poor Management

Would Not Use Again

I Do Not Recommend This Company!

kitchen 4 less doesn't pay employees

K4L writes bad checks, Susan lies everyday saying the check should be good today been going to bank everyday no funds available. K4L put us in hole we cant pay rent. How can a company that has a holy cross on their checks screw their employees, how can you live with yourself?

I bet Herman and Susan have food to eat and toilet paper to wipe there butts. Must be nice.

Kitchens 4 Less is the ideal place to go if you have exceptionally tough skin to deal with the arrogant management, are very patient and don't mind doing a large part of the contracting work yourself. I can't complain too much about the quality of work but process through which we had to go to get there do not just take us over a few bumps in the road but rather a hike over all of Colorado's 14ers.

Allow me to explain what your experience might be like if it is anything like ours - and from the comments of several of the workers, we are not alone - The workers that came to our home, with the odd exception were pleasant to deal with.

Be prepared to be without your kitchen for many weeks. We were told 3 weeks by Herman. The company's website says that most kitchens are done in 2 weeks. Ours was completed a day short of 10 weeks. When I asked Herman if he had lied to us when he told us 3 weeks, he said that if I ever called him a liar he would not speak to me. For the sake of our working relationship I chose not to. You can however decide if this was true. Again we heard that we were not alone in this predicament.

Be prepared to have people come for an hour or 2 (usually at the end of the day) do a little bit of work and then leave. Someone may or may not come back the next day. We had 8 visits to complete some crown moulding and 4 visits to put in a lazy susan door. You will rarely see the same person twice. Sometime people might come walk around your kitchen and then leave having done nothing. We must have had 25 different guys come and only once did someone come for more than 5 hours (and that was on July 4th!!)

Be prepared to receive NO proactive phone calls. No one will call to confirm everything is OK to start. No one will call to see if everything is going OK. No one will call to tell you what is happening and who is coming to your home over the next few days. I am still waiting for a call to ask when someone can come and check that everything went OK and the project finished 3 weeks ago.

Be prepared to call K4L lots times (Kudos to them that they never fail to pick up the phone). I admit that I probably over did it but it was the only way to find out what was going on and keep the management informed what was going on. (Worker leaving having not completed work, work not done properly etc).

Be prepared to be at home when workers arrive, not because they are untrustworthy, but rather because they have not been told what to do. More than half the guys that came to our house greeted us with the words "what do you want me to do"?, including the very first day. If we had not been there all of our carpet in the whole house would have been removed and our kitchen would have been a disaster because NOBODY checks the work except YOU.

Be prepared to pay extra money to move outlets around your kitchen even though the reason they are being moved is because of the way the cabinets were designed by K4L. We had to pay and extra $300

Be prepared not to receive the money for the dinner that Herman graciously offered to buy for you - we have been waiting 3 weeks now.

I could go on and on but in order to keep this commentary as concise as possible I will stop. Suffice it to say our summer was ruined by everything that went on with increased stress levels in the home leaving everybody on edge. It's your choice, but if I was to do it again I would look elsewhere. We have had a few things happen in the last few weeks that really need to be attended to (draws not working properly, doors falling off) but I don't have any energy to deal with the management. and nobody calls to check that everything is OK,

Another thing that might be worth thinking about since you are going to be giving away a considerable amount of your treasure is that I heard from multiple workers about pay checks being bounced and workers not being paid on time if at all.

2 1/2 months and my kitchen is...

I am updating my review at this time and once my kitchen is completed I will give them a much better review. It will be 6 mos. in a few days since my kitchen remodel was started. The doors and drawer fronts came in defective and Herman is now going to order the new door and drawers at his own cost. I am very appreciative as this has been a very stressful process. So when all is done I will then give them a better review for standing behind their good name.

2 1/2 months and my kitchen is NOT done. When they attempt to fix a problem the doors/drawers come back worse. Just horrible. Communication is awful...they don't show up when they say and then they come without notice. And I called the company direct that is the manufacture of my cabinets and I asked them if they were American made, which is what Herman told us and the reason we went with him even though he was more expensive, and I found out that the wood comes from here and there(what does that mean) and that they are assembled in American and then sent BACK(that is what she said) to China to get finished and stained. So NOT happy. I would rather have my old kitchen back then deal with all this mess and still not have completion.

Kitchens 4 Less strives for customer satisfaction, which is why the cabinet doors/drawer fronts have been re-stained (in our shop, not China) 3 different times. The remaining drawer fronts the customer still finds unacceptable are being re-ordered from the manufacturer.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! I would not recommed this business to anyone!! My family has never had such a bad experience. Over 5 months and our kitchen is not done. The owner is rude and very unprofessional. Thousands of dollars worth of damages. I've made many attempts to contact the owner, yet he refuses to anwser. He ruined our piece of granite that we paid thousands for and will not replace it even though it is his mistake!! He has completely left my kitchen in a state of disaster. They did not handle comlaints at all! Once again, I would NEVER refer this company to anyone.

Last year my husband and I started to look into having our Kitchen remodeled. We started with Home Depot and had some ideas drawn up with them to see what they could do on helping us remodel our kitchen to our specification. By the time they sent everyone out to give us their bid for their piece I just saw dollar signs adding up and making this project unreachable. Then we talked to Herman at Kitchen 4 less and he gave us a bid that made it reachable and I did not have to omit all the things I wanted to do. Herman added hardwood floors wherever it needed to be pieced and also made sure that my entire kitchen had hardwood even where the cabinets were going. He replaced all our cabinets, granite counter tops (which are gorgeous). I can’t believe how beautiful my kitchen turned out. I give KUDOS to all the guys who worked on my kitchen for taking their time and doing it right. You can tell that they take pride in their work and it showed when they finished. Yes it did take longer than we expected but every time I called Herman, he was always available especially when I would make changes and wasn’t sure if I didn’t like the way something look. He always made sure I was happy. Now I have a very beautiful kitchen that is high end. I was so pleased with the work that Herman and his team did that I am looking at using them again for my next project.

For Granite Counter tops we checked with Lowes and Home Depot. Lowe's attitude was condescending. Home Depot was over Priced. Kitchens 4 Less was helpful, priced right, worked with a reputable stone supplier, fabricated the counter perfectly, and installed the counter timely. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Working with the construction trade is a different world. Kitchens 4 Less was very informative and pleasant to work with. When we asked for something they came through with the answers or the task completion to make everything perfect. I would recommend them for any Kitchen Remodel to anyone. I wish everyone in the construction trade was as great to work with as Kitchens 4 Less is.

Kitchen/Main-floor Remodel 201...

Kitchen/Main-floor Remodel 2012-2013

On Sept. 12 my house flooded, I figured what better time to remodel the house. I looked around for a long time with many companies and Kitchens 4 Less was by far the best price. I had some outrageous bids nearly doubling Kitchens 4 Less. The remodel included hardwood floors throughout, a complete new kitchen with granite, half bath and trim. You have to understand as a customer that remodels are not done overnight and hiccups pop up along the way. My hardwood floors did take a while and had to be re-done a couple times, it was a pain but Herman backed his word on everything, every time. There were frustrations like all remodels nothing goes perfect but Herman answered my phone literally every time I called, no matter what time of day or night. I ask myself, would I do it all over again? The answer is YES. I got so much more bang for my buck with Kitchens 4 Less it was unbelievable. Bottom line is I wanted my remodel done perfectly and I wasn't going to be happy until so and Herman made sure of that. We had some bumps in the road but when it was all said and done I was very happy! My house got a huge upgrade and looks amazing.

We are starting week 14 next w...

We are starting week 14 next week, doors still missing, doors for cabinets came in with wrong style and had to be re-ordered, first attempt at refinishing floor was a disaster and they had to be totally redone. Counter tops came in minus backsplash and thought it was clear they were going to do them out of another slab. Two weeks later, still not backsplash. Called them, and nothing had been done. Made arrangements for a tile backsplash and at least it got done.

We were out of the kitchen cooking on the back patio on a camp stove for the better part of two months. Not fun.

They have to be called in order to get any work done. Example, the rough in for puck lights sat there for three weeks before I called to demand they get the work finished.

I would not recommend unless you really want frustration in a remodel.

UPDATE

I did not notice before, but the only other review on Kitchens 4 Less is a review they did to themselves!

Here is the real review from an actuall customer. Halfway through week 14. Called them monday for status on the doors. One door was on the cabinets but I noticed a mar and they took it back to the shop to sand and re-finish...two weeks ago. Susan said she would talk to JR and have him call me back. Result was NO CALL BACK.

In general the people that do the work (with the exception of the first floor guy who as not good at all) do good work. It is the coordination with and statusing to the customer that is horrible to the level of not existing that rates the very low rating.

Beware, you will be frustrated if you go with them for a redoing a kitchen.

Update 2

Well my wife had a shouting match with Susan yeasterday. Main message was the WE WANT THE JOB DONE, No excused, just get the damn job done. It is beyond my resaon to rationalize why they cannot call the door supplier and ask when my doors will be delivered let alone when the door that was sent back for re-finish two weeks agao would be completed.

Very bad customer service and almost total lack of planning on the job. Right hand does not know what the left is doing with this organization.

Update 11/19.

I left a message with Heman that I did not think they were intending to finish the job and just get me the parts and I would contract with someone else to complete. I was AMAZED that at about 9:15 the cabinet guy showed up and completed the job including all missing doors. I guess they had the parts and my phone call gave the motivation to complete. The guy told me he was suppose to be at another job today but got sent to my house.

Bottom line, a remodel should not take all the frustration and pent up anger. I fully understand problems crop up, but contacting and informing the customer is a primary responsibility of a contractor.

Next time I want something done, I will do it myself.

Kitchens 4 Less strives for customer satisfaction, unfortunately remodels do not always go as planned, however, we still do what it takes to complete the job right. This customer received a free of charge tile backsplash on their kitchen remodel, discounted the final payment as well as 2 night's hotel stay during the floor refinish. We complete our jobs, and feel we offer our customers quality products at a fair price, and always give the customers more than their money's worth.
