Overall

My HP slowed down all of a sudden and the screen would dim when starting up first thing. Told them on the phone I'd like to have them check it for a bugs, clean out any problems, check the screen. They told me that I should let them install their virus protection software for an additional charge and have them recheck it once every year for another addition charge which I declined. The person I spoke to who claims to be the "senior engineer" tried to talk me into their package insisting that Norton was junk and didn't work although it had served me well for the past seven years. Again I declined. They picked it up and supposedly diagnosed it and cleaned up the software and told me they had found some bugs and removed them but I really needed to install their package which I declined. When the tech delivered the unit he again asked if I'd like to install his software and when I again declined he just shook his head. I paid the $202 and he left. When I started up the laptop it ran fairly well for the first few minutes and then went to less than half speed and nothing had been done with the screen at all. I called the "senior engineer" and the first thing he asked was if I had purchased his software. I told him no and he said THAT was the problem. After I told him I thought that was bull he accessed my unit remotely and ran a couple of speed tests and concluded that "something" was running in the background but he didn't know what and that his software could solve the problem. We had a rather heated discussion and he said he was done listening to me and there was nothing he could or would do for me if I chose not to purchase his virus protection and that obviously this was a perfect example of why I should. A few minutes later he just hung up on me. Since my HP was an older unit I decided to cut my losses and bought a Lenovo for under $300 and transferred my Norton to it. No problems since then. I find it curious that my HP suddenly picked up a virus just minutes after they had it when it had been fine for 7 years and the new one has been fine for the 2 months since then. I will never use ACR again, will never recommend them, and will tell anyone I know to stay away from this unprofessional and shady back room outfit. I would give them a minus rating star if I could.

Incredibly overpriced hardware...

Incredibly overpriced hardware cost. Takes advantage when in a compromised position. Found to replace hardware with cheaper substitutes. Not respectful of women. Has a reputation of speaking down to customers who do not follow nor understand computers.

I had an HP laptop that I had ...

I had an HP laptop that I had begun to clean myself, and had evidently caused something to come loose in the process and it would not turn on. I turned it over to ACR Computers and paid for a diagnostic and cleaning. After a week of "we'll call you back" which never happened and several disassemblies and re-assemblies, they told me they could not find the problem and that it was most likely something in the mother board and I should probably send it to HP for repair. After they returned the laptop to me (after charging me the diagnostic fee), I pulled the keyboard to finish cleaning it out which was not done, I noticed a loose connector that went to the power button. after reconnecting the cable, the laptop worked perfectly. When I contacted ACR (John I believe) and indicated that I was very unsatisfied with their not finding something so obvious, they became EXTREMELY defensive. I never even got the chance to say that it haden t even been cleaned as I asked. I was told that they had much larger jobs to do and they did not want to talk to me regarding this anymore. I will not use ACR for any reason in the future and would not recommend them. There are too many other professionals out there that would treat EVERY customer as important, regardless of how much money they spent.
