Since completing his surgical residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in 1989, Dr. Dorfman has been practicing Podiatric Medicine in the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach area. Dr. Dorfman takes tremendous pride in his reputation for practicing sound medicine with compassion for each patient. If ever anyone needs a great doctor to to take care of all their Podiatry needs, Dr. Dorfman is second to none. Excellent service

A year ago my daughter suffered a very uncommon foot injury for her age while playing tennis. Nine months later after her injury we were hopeless, and thought that there were no treatments available to help her heal and avoid the surgery. About 3 months ago we met Dr. Dorfman and since then everything has changed for us. Today, after 3 months of therapy and no surgery, my daughter is almost 100% healed and now she can return to play the sport that brings her so much happiness. Thank you!

Amazing service, best doctors office ive ever been to!!!

Ive been seeing dr. dorfman for about 2 years, he is always helpful and patient with me. Everytime i have an appointment with them, I am always seen before my appt time, I have never been to a doctors office where Ive been in before my actual appt time, highly recommend this doctor, and what a great staff, everyone is super friendly. Clean and fun atmosphere.

Dr. Dorfman is a GREAT foot doctor. He takes as much time as you need. Very concerned and very knowledgeable. I was so happy I chose him to do my surgery.

I definitely recommend East Ocean Podiatry for advanced treatments for conditions like plantar fasciitis. I am a runner and was experiencing some heel pain, and Dr. Dorfman quickly got me back to my normal level of activity. I'll be running a 10K in July!

The office is absolutely beautiful and clean. I did not have to wait very long once all my insurance and other various paperwork was taken care of. Dr. Dorfman is very attentive and listens to your concerns. He was straight forward and friendly.

Dr. Sansone is always available to work with my very busy schedule. I recently have had to surgeries, both were complete success. I know several people that have horror stories with their podiatrist. Also I want to mention the place I went for the surgery, Park Creek Surgery Center. They were very hospitable, good people and very organized.

I had a wonderful experience at East Ocean Podiatry. I was having chronic heel pain and am so glad I chose such great Podiatrists to treat me. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and Dr. Dorfman and Dr. Sansone were both very professional and caring. I had a great experience and will never consider going anywhere else!!!

Ingrown Toenails
Many factors influence the likelihood of developing an ingrown toenail. The most common way ingrown toenails are formed is due to an incorrect method in how the toenails are trimmed. If you cut your toenails too short or cut them at an angle, youâ€™re putting yourself at risk of getting this condition. Another main factor that contributes to ingrown toenails is the choice of footwear. Those who commonly wear tightly fitted shoes, such as high heels, that do not give the toes enough room, put too much pressure on the big toes. This can create an ingrown toenail. To alleviate the pain, a small piece of cotton may be fitted underneath the nail. However, in more serious cases, total removal of the nail may be necessary.

Fungal toenails form due to an infection that gets in between either the cracks in the nail or possible cuts on the surrounding skin. When this occurs, itâ€™s likely to discolor and thicken the nail; this makes it hard to care for or trim. The nail itself may also become brittle and could potentially crumble. The fungus under the nail may build over time, separating the nail from the bed and ultimately causing it to fall off if not treated properly.

Achilles Tendonitis
A condition that often results in serious heel pain is known as Achilles tendonitis. This condition may form when the Achilles tendon is damaged as a result of overuse. This particular injury can be very serious, as the Achilles tendonâ€™s main function is to connect the lower half of the calf muscles to the heel bone. If this tendon becomes damaged, it may result in difficulty walking and completing everyday tasks, as well as cause extreme discomfort and pain.
Ankle Instability
Sports in which ankle sprains commonly occur include soccer, tennis, and cheerleading. Ankle sprains are caused by a tear in the ligament of the ankle, which typically occurs when the foot is rolled in an awkward manner. Ankle sprains are usually accompanied with bruising, swelling, and pain. Those who have sprained an ankle in the past may run the risk of developing chronic ankle instability. Those with this condition will generally feel a persistent pain, swelling, and tenderness in the ankle, and may experience the sensation of the ankle giving way when performing everyday activities.

Athletes, or those who are frequently involved in sporting activities, are generally at a higher risk of getting a foot or ankle injury. Overuse and intense pressure put on the muscles, ligaments, and tendons of the lower extremity region are typically caused by repetitive motions. This in turn will often cause stress and lead to injury of the foot or ankle. Some of the most common injuries caused by sporting activities include ankle sprains, peroneal tendonitis, stress fractures, chronic ankle instability, heel pain, injury to the Achilles tendon, and injury to the sesamoid bones.

A bunion is a bone deformity usually occurring at the base of the big toe. This is a progressive condition that is made worse by inward pressure from tight shoes. Bunions can be very painful, and in some instances surgery may be necessary to remove them.

Toenail fungus is a condition that many people develop and suffer from. Toenail fungus often results in the discoloration and thickening of the toenail, which can cause embarrassment for many people. The condition begins as a small white or yellow growth beneath the tip of the nail and at its worse can develop into the nailâ€™s deterioration.
Hammertoes
Many patients have experienced severe foot discomfort due to bunions, plantar warts, hammertoes, stress fractures, blisters, ingrown toenails, corns and calluses, to name a few. Foot pain is often associated with the following symptoms: swelling, redness, warmth, tenderness, discoloration, stiffness, as well as burning, tingling, and numbing sensations. It may help to check the feet daily for any abnormalities or deformities that may be causing the foot pain. Treatment for foot pain will vary on a case by case basis, along with the recovery process.

Ingrown Toenails
Treatment for an ingrown toenail varies between patients and the severity of the condition. In most cases, it is best to see your podiatrist for thorough and proper treatment. After examining your toe, your podiatrist may prescribe oral antibiotics to clear the infection if one is present. Surgical removal of either a portion of the nail or the entire nail may also be considered. In some cases, complete removal or destruction of the nail root may be required. Most patients who undergo nail surgery experience minimal pain afterward and can return to normal activity the following day.
