Taqueria El Palomino

My friend told me about this tiny little drive through in Decatur which served the most

authentic Mexican food and so we visited El Palomino a few days ago. Being from

San Francisco and having The Mission close by, I had my misgivings on sampling anything

'authentic' in Northern Alabama. I was wrong!

El Palomino serves up some fantastic grilled steak tacos ($1.45/each) and a killer Steak Taco

Salad ($4.50). You get a choice of steak, chorizo or chicken but I recommend the steak. They

use whole avocados and have perfectly spicy green and red salsas on the side. The menu is small

but everything is inexpensive. Like I said, it's a drive through so there's no seating but the food

is worth the small wait you have as they prepare it in their little kitchen.
