Overall

We arrived home at 11:30PM from a Saltdogs game only to find my 3 1/2 month old Maltese puppy is serious distress. He screamed and tried to bite when I went to pick him up. He was covered in feces and urine. As I tried to rinse him off, he struggled to bite and get away from me. All of a sudden he just stopped. I told my husband he just died in my hands. I laid him down in his kennel knowing he was gone. I'm not sure what I was thinking because I never let anything" die on my watch." I picked him back up and rubbed and pushed on his chest and blew in his face. I saw his eyelid flutter when the blast of air hit him. I called Dr. Schwang, telling him I didn't think he would survive the trip.(We are 25 min away). He said to bring him in. When I handed him over, he took his temp and looked him over good and said he wasn't sure we could save him. I already knew that but we were going to try. He got his hot water jug ready to lay him on, covered him with a towel, warmed an IV bag and got it going, as well as testing for everything we could think of. Negative on all. He gave him glucose through the iv and after 15 min or so, he began to move his head. He checked his temp again and it had come back up to normal. After another 10 min or so, his head bobbed. Dr Schwang said we could go home. I asked what he was going to do. He said he would stay with him all night if he needed to. We went home. I had to work in the AM but he called me early to tell me I could pick him up, he was doing great. He stayed until 2 AM when PEEWEE wanted to eat something. He fed him a little, watched so he kept it down and put him in a kennel and went to get some sleep. In the morning he was wanting to play a little. He is doing wonderfully and to this day I don't think either of us know for sure what was wrong but this is totally typical of the care my dogs get from Dr Schwang. We have done C-Sections at midnight, and 5 AM and he is always available to answer my questions. I recommend him to all my local puppy customers. Thank you, Randy.
