I Believe We Are Not Just Restoring A Piece Of Furniture, But A Piece Of Your History.

General Info
Entering the industry in 2001, I was given the opportunity to work for a (commercial) wood restoration company. This company offered in-house schooling twice a week for their employees. Here I was mentored and taught by some of the best wood restorers in the country. These teachers had ties from The Smithsonian in Washington DC to the National Wood Institute in Minnesota. During my time of employment I was taught different species of wood, repairs, costume color matching, preservation, and old and new restoration methods. For seven years I had the privilege of traveling around the United States learning and working on different projects. In 2009, "the door of opportunity" opened up for me and I was awarded a job in a (residential) wood restoration company as shop manager. As shop manager, I was responsible for pick-ups, deliveries, sales, orders, project management and personally restoring "priority jobs". When I had the opportunity to restore a "priority job", I worked on the project from start to finish and communicated directly with the client. While restoring these projects, I learned about the history/story behind each piece and saw how sentimental these pieces were. In learning this fact, it gave me even more pride in my work. This is when I found my love for wood restoration. In big restoration companies, it's all about mass production (get the jobs in and get them out). You do not get to experience the personal relationship you build with the client nor do you get as much gratification in what you're doing. I believe when the client is faced with big restoration companies, they are cheated of the quality that they and their furniture deserve. In 2012, my mentor/wife and I set out to open a restoration company that cares for your furniture as much as you do. Creative Furniture Restoration believes we are restoring not just another piece of furniture but a piece of your history. We will spend as much time as it takes to understand what your cares and needs are for each piece without charging you extra for our time like the bigger companies do. We LOVE what we do and it shows in our care and work of your piece. If you are looking for the highest quality restoration company that takes pride in every project, loves what they do and is fueled off of your love for your piece you have found the right restoration company. I commissioned this business to refinish, repair, and reupholster an antique settee that I had inherited from my grandma. Without notice, the business cleared out of their Crofton, MD warehouse space without a trace -- taking my furniture and my deposit with them. Repeated phone calls and emails have gone unanswered since September 2017.

I had a reupholstering and re oiling of teak wood done to my teak bench. The job was excellently done, and my instructions were followed precisely. Needless to say, I am very happy and would use this company again.

I found a little china cabinet at Good Will and fell in love with it - only problem was it needed to be refinished. The finish on the cabinet was bad - the old varnish was black and looked like it was melted. Dan came out to look at it and told me it was definitely worth refinishing - it was a genuine antique! When he brought it back to me it was beautiful! I am very impressed with Dan's work - in fact I have given him another project. He is reupholstering a chair and ottoman for me. I know it will be beautiful too.

Worth the price, they take the time to do it right!

I had Creative Furniture Restoration repair some water damage I had on a chair and table from a dining room set. They kept in touch and updated me on the status of the job via email. When the first stain they tried wasn't quite right, they sent photos right away. I agreed I wasn't satisfied with that match, so they took the time to research the unusual original finishing technique and painstakingly replicate it. The results were better than the condition in which I acquired the set.

Even though only the table and one chair needed work, Creative Furniture Restoration stored and moved the two piece display case and 3 other chairs from the set for me while I was changing addresses at no additional cost.

Kind and knowledgeable, if I need restoration services again, they'll be the first I turn to.

Dan did a great job on one of my antique dining room chairs that had to have the seat repaired. He was able to completely repair it and able to do so using my original upholstery which was important as it is one of a set of 6 chairs! He explained exactly what he would do and completed the job on time--awesome!

My mom and dad had a living room suite that they loved. They both passed away this year, and I wanted to preserve their Queen Anne chair and place it in my home to remind me of them. I contacted Dan and immediately liked his manner, his professionalism and his honesty. I handed over my parents' precious chair to him and he delivered the most beautiful results. I couldn't be happier with the workmanship and the care taken to bring new life to this old chair! Thank you Dan and your master upholsterer!

Just had a collapsible kitchen table repaired which involved some complex painting prior to finishing it and Dan did a terrific job. Took great care of the table and provided his honest assessment of things. Does high quality work for a fair price. We will definitely us again.

Dan did a phenomenal job!!! He was very detailed in his description of the process he would use and clearly understood that this antique was special to me as it is a family piece handed down four generations. He knew what to look for in the construction to approximate the time period it was made. I will definitely use him again as there are more pieces to be done.

The owner is knowledgable and the work is BEAUTIFUL. They treat each project as if it was going to be used in their own home. We are always getting compliments on the pieces they have refinished for us.
