If this screw is turned clockwise the box will move back into the wall, and likewise if it is turned counter-clockwise the box will move outward. The metal bracket, commonly referred to as the yoke, of the receptacle should rest against the finished wall, or in this case the tile. Some credit should be given here to the tile installer for bringing the tile very close to edges of the box. Many times this care is not taken and the receptacle ends up loose, or wobbly. If you are remodeling your kitchen, or building a new one, this is how you want your countertop receptacles to be installed if the backsplash area is to be covered with tile, granite, or other material where the finished wall surface is somewhat ambiguous due to the varying thickness of different materials.

Bathroom Remodeling

Drywalls
Where will the power be derived from? Is there an adjacent receptacle from which to take power? In a perfect world there would be an existing receptacle directly below the receptacle shown here in the lower left corner of the TV, and in the same stud bay. If that is not the case then the power will need to come from somewhere else and many times that will entail drywall damage, and repair which most electricians do not involve themselves with. If there is accessible attic space above then perhaps the power cable can be dropped down form above.
Framing
Hen hiring a contractor it is good to know the difference between a General Contractor (GC) and a Sub-Contractor (Sub). If you are planning a large remodel, or an addition you will most likely want to hire a GC, who will then hire subs for all work other than framing of the structure. A GC is responsible for the coordination of most aspects of your remodeling project other than the creation of building plans, which is done by the architect. He will schedule the various subs and inspections with skill and timeliness, resulting in your project moving along with as little downtime as possible.
Tile Installation
This receptacle was not installed using an adjustable box nor was the tile installed tightly to the box. The top portion of the receptacle yoke does not rest on the tile. It is possible to use a spacer between the yoke and the blue box to remedy this problem and give the receptacle some support but it is more professional to use an adjustable box along with a higher quality tile installation. The home owner decided to forego the $150.00 added cost to upgrade the five outlet boxes where this new tile was being installed.

Usually the TV will be centered over something like a fireplace mantle, cabinet etc. It is best for the customer to figure out ahead of time where the center of the TV will be when the installation is complete. Some people will use blue painter’s masking tape to outline the dimension of the TV at their preferred mounting location.
Carpeting
Here is a vast difference between these two things and many remodels have gone awry because the home owners did not understand that the unspecified remodel plans their architect drew for them are like a puzzle- because most of the instructions (details) have been omitted. These residential plans will usually contain information which will be required by the municipality plan checking department but will lack in the non-required specifications like style of light fixtures, colors of switches and receptacles, heights of wall sconces, wall mount TV installations, cabinet style, hardwood floor types and colors, ceramic tile choices, molding choices, carpeting, Internet networking, holiday lighting receptacles under eaves, bath towel rod blocking, and many, many more. These details are left out on most residential construction plans because the home owner would balk at the architect's high cost to specify everything. That can only mean one thing- the home owner is left with the daunting task of specifying all of the details, which will take some time, before handing the plans to any contractors for bids. Do yourself a favor and adopt the mentality that you will be telling the contractor what to do, install, and build by way of thorough planning. The flow of design related information should be from the owner or architect to the contractor and not visa-versa. The remodeling experience is a fine example of the "you gotta help yourself " world we live in.

Ecessed can lights that will be installed in attic spaces where there is insulation present must be IC (insulation compatible) and also must be made AT (air tight). ICAT, or ICA is a common acronym found on can light labels, and that is where your inspector will look to assure that your lights are energy management code compliant. Can lights installed in the ceiling between floors do not need to be ICAT as there is typically no insulation in those spaces.
