Landscape & Irrigation Speclst

After two and a half long years of toiling DIY style with our lawn each season without any success, we were in the midst of ambitiously digging up the yard, yet again, for a major redo when we looked at each other and said, "Forget it, we have got to get someone in here who actually knows what they're doing." We put down our rake and shovel and I began to make calls.



In the past I had called sod companies to inquire about the cost and installation. Everyone indicated that for a nominal fee (couple hundred dollars per pallet) they'd toss the sod out on top of the existing lawn. They also said it would take their crew about 15 minutes to get it all in and done (so attention to detail was likely not their strong point). When I inquired about having someone evaluate our sprinklers and soil, they always said they didn't handle that part of landscaping. So... we could pay a few hundred dollars and get sod thrown on top of our mess, and no one would really care if it lived or died. It sounded like no one would be willing to really take a critical eye to what was going on with our yard year after year.



Then, we found the Landscape & Irrigation Specialists... their business description noted a variety of landscaping services including sprinklers AND sod. Our ideal combination. We wanted someone to come down and take a look and try to troubleshoot the problem. We called on a Saturday (of all the companies we contacted that day, they were the only ones to answer the phone) and they headed straight down to our house within an hour. Vickey and Jeff arrived and listened to our history of lawn issues and then carefully walked through the yard with us noting problems, evaluating the sprinkler system and making suggestions to remedy the situation.



That afternoon we had a quote and a whole description of our solution. It sounded good. We requested references before we agreed to the job and Vickey happily supplied *well* over the 2-3 we expected - we scheduled our job and within a day they were down here with their crew.



In all, with monsoon-like downpours slowing things down a little, it took a couple of days before the old healthy sod (the patches we had that were good) were moved to the backyard, the soil was turned, nourished and new sod laid down, our sprinkler system re-calibrated and a few heads moved to get better coverage. We looked in awe at the GREENEST lawn we'd see. The sod is so well laid down that you cannot tell that it was just placed there. Our neighbors, all too familiar with our awful brown thumbs, rubbernecked the first few days driving by and walking their dogs.



We're absolutely thrilled with the work they did. Vickey and Jeff are very down to earth and aren't going to try to do you wrong. We both really liked that they weren't inclined to waste perfectly good resources (healthy patches of the lawn that could be used to fill in as needed elsewhere). They very clearly have a passion for the work they do, amazing connections to excellent sod suppliers, and they do an excellent job. We felt like we were number one on their list throughout the entire project and I doubt very much that those other companies would have done the same. As they cleaned up and moved on to the next job they said to give them a call should we have any problems or questions. That gave us a peace of mind that we won't be on our own if we have problems. Finally our lawn isn’t keeping us up at night!



I would highly recommend getting in touch with the Landscape & Irrigation Specialists if you need any work done around your yard. They appear to do it all, from trimming, clean-up, resodding, sprinkler systems, re-screening, power washing... you name it. I just don't see any way that you wouldn't be thrilled with the service they provide and work they do. Stop living with the frustration and give 'em a call.
