Buyer Beware!!!!

The contractor installed our windows and did a poor finish job. One arched window was 2 inches short at the top around the arch. The installers shoved newspaper into the space and used a large amount of caulk. Needless to say I told them the window was not acceptable. To their credit they did have a new window made. The factory rep had to come out to fix two other problems with the windows. We had to redo the stucco around all of the windows after their installer left. Then to top things off they never informed us of the date of the final inspection. So no one was here when the inspector came. The inspection failed. We didn't find this out until I called the city to see if the permit was closed. They just called and said that I would have to pay another $75 because the permit expired. I already gave them over $6000, I'll be dammed if I'll give them anymore. Now I have new windows with no final inspection. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable company for your windows.

In response to these comments, First of all at the time of contract, the person posting this complaint had no legal right to the property - and probably still does not. However in the process of doing a window replacement project - it sometimes amazes us what kind of opening we have to deal with that the original contractor has left us with. When replacing a window, stucco sometimes has to be removed and it states in our contract that stucco removal and replacement is included but painting is not. Occasionally our manufacturer will let an item get past their quality control but will send a replacement to correct it. We always leave our customers satisfied with our workmanship and final payment was received. Ability will always schedule the final inspection with the homeowner - in this case the homeowner has a full time job and we were told her friend would be at home on a certain date and time and inspection was called. The cities do not call the contractor to notify them of missed appointments. When it was brought to our attention, Ability paid the $50 re-inspection fee but then was told that the building permit had expired and that an add'l $75 fee would have to be paid. We refused to pay the $75 and felt the homeowner missed the original appt and should share in the responsibility.
