Belcher Animal Clinic

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DEAF DOG HERE, or any pet that has special needs/protection issues. DR KENNETH HAS NO CHARISMA WITH ANIMALS OR PEOPLE: WHAT. SO. EVER. My dog ate ibuprofen and was throwing up blood. I brought him here on a whim of emergency because my regular vet (whom has never had issues with my dog) closed at 5pm. I called and I explained ahead of time, that my dog was deaf and protective of me if approached the wrong way and they said that they would be able to handle it, and that they would also notify the staff. THEY DID NOT. Instead, the vet assistant did not listen to any of the instructions I gave her, and as a result my dog barked and growled at her as I held him back. She left and returned with Dr. Kenneth A St. John who quickly walked in the room and walked out yelling "that dog is dangerous". I asked for a muzzle and put it on my dog and then left the room to try to explain to Dr. Kenneth that my dog does better when he is separated from me. When I entered the room and tried to explain this to Dr. Kenneth, although I wasn't belligerent, or loud, or even angry he said: "your dog is dangerous he attacked my assistant" (which he did not) "you aren't going to come into my clinic and tell me what to do, you do not belong back here" "you need to go back into the waiting room or i will call the police". Even though i was simply trying to explain the best way to handle my dog for everyones saftey. He refused to let me speak, he belittled me and refused service to my sick animal and After this I had to scramble to find another vet open past 5pm, thank god I did because otherwise my dog might be dead all because of the impatience of one old white man who refuses to be told what to do even if it would benefit his own safety and his staffs. I will not come within ten feet ofDr Kenneth or The Belcher Animal Clinic ever again, he risked my pets life and spiraled my horrible day, into an even worse one with a full blown panic attack as I scrambled to find my dying dog another vet. I understand that my dog may have scared him, but Dr Kenneth was up and arms the moment her walked into the room and that is no way to approach a frightened animal, it's hard to believe this rude and angry man is called "Experienced, knowledgable, honest and caring" on his website. He s SO far from it with the way he treated me and my dog today. Stay very far away.

I have been to a few other vets but I think this is the best one. They are gentle with my pet and make me feel comfortable leaving my pet with them. The staff is polite and efficient and I have used them for grooming and vet services. I have found the cost reasonable and less expensive than most I have tried. I will continue to use them.

Fantastic service and really affordable. Called at 8 am and had an appt. for the same afternoon. Diagnosed and meds provided and no unnecessary tests or charges. Would highly recomend.

Dr. St. John and his entire staff showed me the most incredible consideration when I called to bring in my cat of more than 14 years for immediate service. Although he had never seen my Melissa before, he gave her and me the most concern and comfort even though he had to give me bad news. He was able to send us home for a few more days and when I called in to say we needed to come back and I felt Missy was ready to go, the staff and Dr. St. John handled us with utmost compassion and care. I cannot recommend him higher. He is a wonderful vet!

My dog got a bone catch in her throat and Dr St John got me in immediately wo prior notice and stayed late and we had not yet established as new patients. He cares! They are professional and ethical.

Dr. St. John and his team are amazing people. He has been my Vet for 25 years and you could not ask for better people. A week ago today we had to say goodbye to our 22 yr old dog Spaz and as always it was handled with the utmost compassion and care. Today I will be returning to the clinic to welcome my new grandpuppy and start his life off the way that we did with Spaz, making sure he had the best of care. I have referred people to Belcher Animal clinic and they drive from Tampa to Clearwater for all of their Vet Care because of the impecable care and respect that I have had for years. We love you all at Belcher Animal Clinic. The Ellis Family both human and canine.

My pets have been clients of Belcher Animal Clinic for almost 14 yrs. Always wonderful service, kind and compassionate staff, never have had to wait for a same day appointment. It feels like a small town vet, like part of the family, and they treat your pets like they are their own pets.

We have used Dr. St. John for many years now. He has saved our Cocker from rat posion, our cat from Hartz flee treatment. And he took such wonderful care of our Husky (Rest in Peace)
