Arlington Heights Town Hall is located in Arlington Heights, Ill. The city operates with a council-mayor form of government, and its meetings are held in the town hall. The original building was built in 1895. In 1930, the plans for a new building, proposed by Mayor Riley J. Handley, were approved. In 1931, the first meeting of city council was held in the new building. Arlington Heights Town Hall is the venue for council meetings, held on the fourth Monday of each month. The elected officials include a mayor, clerk treasurer and six council members. Each council member is chairperson over one of the committees, including finance, safety and law, streets, sidewalks and lights, publc buildings and land, public safety and building code, contracts and grants. In addition, it has a board of public affairs, zoning board of appeals, code of appeals board, building and housing commissioner, building inspector, village engineer, code enforcement officer and fire inspector. Other departments include a police, fire and service departments.
