Pediatric Care
Per the American Academy of Pediatrics, age is not a barrier to skin testing. Even infants can benefit. As the child's immune system develops, the child should be retested to identify changes in his/her immune response; many times foods can be reintroduced into the diet that once caused an allergic reaction.

Many factors affect how serious pneumonia is, such as the type of germ causing the lung infection, your age, and your overall health. Pneumonia tends to be more serious for children under the age of five, adults over the age of 65, people with certain conditions such as heart failure, diabetes, or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), or people who have weak immune systems due to HIV/AIDS, chemotherapy (a treatment for cancer), or organ or blood and marrow stem cell transplant procedures.

Fungus
Mold and mildew are fungi. They differ from plants or animals in how they reproduce and grow. The "seeds," called spores, are spread by the wind outdoors and by air indoors. Some spores are released in dry, windy weather. Others are released with the fog or dew when humidity is high. Inhaling the spores causes allergic reactions in some people. Allergic symptoms from fungus spores are most common from July to late summer. But with fungi growing in so many places, allergic reactions can occur year round. Although there are many types of molds, only a few dozen cause allergic reactions. Alternaria, Cladosporium (Hormodendrum), Aspergillus, Penicillium, Helminthosporium, Epicoccum, Fusarium, Mucor, Rhizopus and Aureobasidium (Pullularia) are the major culprits.

Skin testing is the most reliable form of allergy testing, as mast cells which produce histamine are located in high numbers just under the skin. The results of skin testing are available within fifteen minutes and have been proven to be more accurate than blood testing in diagnosing allergies.
