Many patients when they get into their teenage years do not make appointments for their annual health examinations and therefore either get behind on their immunizations or get them elsewhere (health department, drugstore clinic, grocery store clinic, Urgent Care, another doctor). If these shots obtained elsewhere are not entered into the Georgia Immunization Registry (GRITS), we have no way of accessing them. Frequently these patients have not been seen in the office for 2-5 years or longer. When it comes time to fill out college entrance forms, we are unable to comply due to incomplete information. If the shot record is incomplete and shots need to be given, he/she will need a health check examination. We do not give immunizations to patients not seen a least once a year for annual exams. If your college bound child finds themselves in this predicament, please do not wait until the last minute to try to rectify the situation. Better yet, always have your child get an annual examination once a year.

Cervical Cancer

Due to the anti-vaccination propaganda that has been rampant in the media over the past 10-15 years, routine vaccination (MMR) against this measles had decreased and therefore measles is on the rise in this country. Any link between MMR and autism has been thoroughly disproven by numerous scientific studies. This is not a benign illness and there are 2-3 deaths per 1000 cases in children. All children NEED to be vaccinated at 12 months old and 4 years old.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
A reminder that ADHD medicine rechecks are due every 3-4 months. In order for your child to be able to continue on medication, you must have these rechecks done as required by your health care provider.
