Carrollton Club Apartments

The apartments are well maintained. However the amenities mentioned in their advertising and sales pitches boarder on fraud in my opinion. The 'club house' where the laundry room, free internet and closet sized library are located closes at 4 in the afternoon each day. There are very rarely social activities. I'm not saying they don't have any, but just know that it's not the hopping social/active kind of schedule they try to imply. Personal handyman service is better than at most of Carrollton's college focused apartment complexes, but its still very limited and residents are put on long waiting lists and 'essential' maintenance of course has to take precedence over 'personal' handyman requests. The 'meals' they provide are often barely edible. I know everyone likes somethind different and you cannot please all the people all the time, and older people are often especially picky or have differing dietary needs. However, I'm pretty easy going when it comes to food, and can make the best out of most any situation. Yet, I choose not to join my parent when they invite me for lunch because of the food. If I can't eat it a few times a year, how bad do I feel for the people who eat it 7 days a week? During the sales pitch they call it a restaurant with choices. Yes ~ kind of ~ to an extent, but your choice is an (often) mis-matched, barely warm, often over-cooked/sometimes under cooked meal ~OR~ frozen chicken fingers and fries with a crust too hard for most young folks with good teeth ~OR~ a small 'chef' salad which is most often iceberg lettuce with the tiniest bit of toppings and one slice of cut up 'sandwich meat' ham or turkey. No, your parent won't starve if they live there and can't cook for themselves, but do not be fooled into thinking that they will receive a restaurant or even cafeteria quality lunch each day. Breakfast is usually only a biscuit with jelly, very occasionally some type meat, or a sweet roll - NOT a full meal. Some days afternoon snacks are offered, some days they are not. I am not saying the apartment complex is a bad place to live, truly its not, and there are some advantages for the senior citizens who live there. But PLEASE be very skeptical of the GLOWING sales pitch before you or your elderly relative become locked into paying for the 'package' that really is not all it's touted to be. Its a clean, safe, well maintained place to live, but the amenities in their brochure, web site and sales pitch are barely what they claim they will be.
