New Construction
Peter Lapidus Construction, Inc. is a general engineering contractor based in Carpinteria, California. PLC was founded in 2000 with the goal of providing our customers and community a wide range of construction services. We strive to develop long-term relationships with our clients by providing them with custom services tailored to suit their needs.
Demolition
The site geology consisted of a large quantity of rock in all sizes up to 8’ diameter. Much of the soil required screening for use as compacted fill. We were able to use the screened rock as fill by crushing the smaller 18” minus along with all concrete from demolition down to meet specifications, and then incorporate it back into the fills. The crusher we utilized is an MB90.3 excavator mounted jaw crusher.

Landscaping and Fencing

Asphalt Paving
The project consisted of: installing 24” drilled concrete pilings to a depth of 35’, constructing cast in place abutments & wingwalls with embedded anchors, assembling the bridge, craning it into place & attaching it. Once the bridge was installed, we performed all the site grading, asphalt milling, utility adjustments & asphalt paving. The job had a maximum 40 working day duration which spanned over the Christmas New Years holiday. The agency added extra scope & we were still able to finish under the 40 day maximum window time frame. It was great to be involved in putting our community back together after the disaster. This project has special meaning as we worked at neighboring properties cleaning up shortly after the disaster. To see it all coming back together was very satisfying.
Excavation
PLC was awarded the Goleta Slough Restoration job by The Land Trust For Santa Barbara. The job consisted of creation of new wetland habitat by excavation previously filled in wetland & removing non native plants. Newly created areas are being revegetated with native plants.
Retaining Walls
PLC performed all grading required for the new residence and 3,000 foot long access road including paving. PLC constructed a soldier pile retaining wall to support the road at a location of geologic concern adjacent to the roadway.We installed the water system piping for fire protection, hydrant, well and domestic water pipe lines, Edison phone and cable conduits, and underground drainage system. PLC also installed the Advantex treatment system required for septic systems in this area.
