Dental Examination
When conducting an exam at our dental practice in Buffalo Grove, our dentists keep your relaxation a high priority. Every patient is different, and each person we see has a different degree of security with undergoing a dental exam. As dentists with experience in treating patients who have dental phobias, Doctors Papworth and Vargas conduct examinations to meet your level of comfort.
X-rays
Digital radiography (digital X-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental X-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of X-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged, helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems more easily. Digital X-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental X-rays.
Oral Cancer Screening
During bi-annual check-ups, the dentist and hygienist will thoroughly look for changes and lesions in the mouth, but a dedicated comprehensive oral cancer screening should be performed at least once each year.

Teeth Cleaning
Brushing and flossing are of paramount importance to oral hygiene. Though bi-annual professional dental cleanings remove plaque, tartar, and debris, excellent homecare methods are equally valuable. Proper brushing and flossing can enhance the health of the mouth, make the smile sparkle, and prevent serious diseases.
Fluoride Treatment

Dental Sealants
Fluoride and sealants are included with the cleanings Doctors Papworth and Vargas perform. Fluoride is a mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and is applied by our dentists to make your smile more resistant to decay. Sealants are plastic coatings for molars. The bacteria that causes tooth decay feeds off of food particles, so sealants prevent the bacteria from building up on a tooth by preventing food from sticking to teeth.

Root Canal Treatment
Dr. Papworth and Dr. Vargas will spend time explaining treatments and options and do not rush the appointment. They have a great bedside manner; very gentle, and very cautious as to not cause any pain. They have state of the art equipment that covers everything from x-rays to root canals. I don't have the best teeth in the world and have had plenty of procedures done. All were required and never was any unwanted or unnecessary service done. The quality of the work is EXCELLENT!!! They have a variety of time slots for appointment options (which is important when you are trying to juggle work and life schedules). They never keep me long in the waiting room. I've never had any problem with insurance either.

I was thinking today about how I MUST give a review, when I was having some major dental care done; which went very very well (root canal process), as usual though, because every time I am here, I think how professional they are and how well they treat me as a patient, as well as how very close to painless the processes are on my teeth. I have been a patient for about 20+ years and have gone thru so many changes in my mouth; braces, not having the best dental genes; I also got really busy over the past 5 years and missed some basic care for a while. The office treated me as if I was just there, even though many yrs had passed and I felt again the same top notch service as before. Never let down. Thanks
