Gladys Porter High School is an educational institution that enrolls students in grades 9 through 12. It offers classes in foreign language, mathematics, physical education, math, Language arts and science. The school also participates in Title I and special education programs. It follows the educational assessment guidelines of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Gladys Porter High School maintains band, choir, chess, book, dance arts, environmental, theater, yearbook and geography clubs. It has a career and technical education department and library that provides access to various types of educational Web sites and search engines. The school offers membership opportunities for the Business Professionals of America and the Health Occupations Students of America. Additionally, it conducts cross-country, golf, swimming, tennis, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and baseball. Gladys Porter High School is a part of the Brownsville Independent School District, which governs elementary, middle and high schools.
