Branchville Police Department

I had the same experience as the reviewer below. The speed limit goes from 30 to 45 as you are exiting downtown. As you accelerate to get up to speed outside of town, there is a cop waiting around a curve to trap you. He got me going 44 in a 30, even though you could practically reach out and touch the "45 speed limit" sign where he pulled me over.



The duty of police officers is to protect the public and deter crime, and I respect them immensely for their work in that regard. The Branchville PD have decided instead to practice extortion at the expense of folks like me who choose to travel through their beautiful historic town.



This was my first poor experience with the police, and it shook me. I travel a ton for work (over 190,000 miles in the past five years) and I've seen plenty of so-called speed traps, but I've never felt so much like a rolling target as I did exiting Branchville. Shame on you for targeting conscientious drivers who choose to go through your town slowly, admire your historic buildings, and exit at a safe speed.



Wrong is wrong.

on a recent visit to our daughters home in Charleston S.C. for the Birth of our new Grandaughter we where stopped by the towns only officer whom we were traveling Behind and at a fair distance apart upon stopping us he stated that I was speeding and that he had a radar device in his rear window that clocked me at 42 miles per Hour in a 30 mph zone I was then advised that I would be given a " Break" and my Fine would only be $82.00!!! ......this town is located between North Augusta Ga and Charleston S.C. on highway 78, we chose this route to save time traveling to Atlanta instead of taking 26 to columbia and 20 to Atlanta, Never Again will we defy our Navigation system and deviate because of convienence an $82.00 Lesson has been learned and it would behoove you travelers of like mind to stay the Hell away from one horse,one traffic "Blinking" light towns whose sole purpose for revenue is to prey on weary travelers who happen to have a nice car and out of stae plates!!!!
