Overall
Dangerous hospital.

I was assigned to work as an agency nurse for 2 12 hrs shifts atCMH in past. It was hellish. I had never seen a worse hospital than this in my career. If anyone can possibly avoid using this hospital please for your health and possibly your life go elsewhere.

Overall

This hospital is one of the worst I have ever been in. the nursing care needs a lot of improvement. I had surgery in April in this hospital and the night time nursing staff was seriously understaffed. There was one nurse for 9 patients. I waited over 3 hours for my night nurse to come in and see me. I had asked for a fan earlier in the day because I was so hot. I finally got one around 9:30 p.m. I laid in that bed from the time I got our of surgery to 9:30 p.m. before I even got to go to the bathroom. My bed was soaked from sweat and when the night nurse finally came in they had to change the sheets. They were supposed to get me up to walk and didn't come in. Finally at about 6:30 a.m. I got myself up and walked down the hall.

The person I take care of has been in this hospital several times and they have treated him horribly. He has had to wait hours for his pain meds and when he asks for something to drink they never bring it. When I picked him up the last time I went into the room and found his water pitcher over near the window far from where he could get it. He is a fall risk and was not allowed out of bed.

This hospital is building on to their campus and I find this appalling as they are doing this at the cost of patient care. If they have the money to build new buildings to expand, then they can afford to have proper staffing in their hospital. I will never go back to this hospital and I won't recommend it to anyone else. My hope is that the person I care for won't use this hospital again. It will be worth the trip to go back to Grandview to our former doctor and use the hospitals in Lee's Summit for our care from now on.
