Fibromyalgia
Patrick Hannum is an excellent physical therapist. When I went to see him initially, I presented him with multiple symptoms, some as a result of a twenty-year-old accident, others from problems I have had for years such as fibromyalgia. He has helped me enormously. He performs both physical therapy and Rolfing on me and he is also helping me to do some Pilates work. I have come to realize that as I grow older, I have to continue to take an active part in keeping myself fit. I feel that Patrick has really facilitated that. Each time I see him, he always takes a current history and then proceeds to help ease my pain. I am extremely grateful to him.

Physical Therapy
Patrick graduated from U.C.S.B in 1988 with a B.A. in Physiology and cell biology. He went on to receive a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Sargent College of Boston University in 1991. Patrick practiced for nine years, specializing in orthopedic physical therapy before taking over Julie Cleavenger Physical Therapy for Ms. Cleavenger when she fell ill. After several years of practice, Patrick met and studied with Art Riggs, advanced Rolfer. When he personally experienced the 10-series of Rolf treatments, Patrick decided to study structural integration with the Rolf Institute. He became a certified Rolfer in 2001. Since then, he has been practicing Rolfing Structural Integration in addition to manual physical therapy. Over his career he has taken over 40 orthopedic P.T. courses and several Rolfing S.I. courses. He works to maintain the standard of care set by Ms. Cleavenger who died in 2002. This practice involves one-on-one treatment sessions focusing on the spec i fic needs of individual patients.

Manual Physical Therapy - Manual therapy is the skillful application of “hands-on” treatment techniques. I use my hands (sometimes knuckles and elbows) to stretch, mobilize and facilitate joints and soft-tissue with the goal of restoring normal motion and function.
