Salem Water Users is the worst company I've ever dealt with. Several times they have charged me twice for a monthly bill. They will not refund the 2nd unauthorized charge siting it will cost them $30 to do so. All they will do is give a credit. Rude customer service all the way around. Poor water pressure, constant water line breaks and no one will say with the "Avilla upgrade" will be paid back. My water bill was double the amount it usually is and no one can explain why. No water leaks, water line breaks and I havent changed my usage of water. Poor excuse of a company that's for sure.

I suggest all Salem Water Users read their meters every month. My water bill had always been around $36 a month then for two months during the winter my bills were less than $20. I was excited because I thought that maybe I was doing good on watching my water usage but then I got my last bill in the mail and it was for over $100. The technician came to our door to tell us that we might have a leak. We searched the whole inner house and couldn't find a leak. So went to pay the water bill and they wouldn't help us and had to pay the amount in full at once. Their customer service was unpleasant. I asked her to look up my water usage for each month and she said she was looking at it on the screen so then I asked her for a print off and she rolled her eyes at me. When she finally printed it off, I examined it and I asked her why my bill was always an even usage in the amounts of 5000, 5400, or 6000 yet there was a month in the beginning of the year for 1,100 and another for only 4000; and now this bill I just paid, they claim that we used over 29,000 gallons!?!? All I wanted them to admit to me was that they are not in fact reading our meters but instead guesstimating and sending off a bill and now that they finally read our meter we are having to play catch up for all those months that they didn't read the meter. I have no problem paying for our water consumption but I do have a problem with paying for terrible customer service and technicians who are not doing their job. Her explanation as to why their technicians might not have read the meter was because it was cold outside during those months that my bills were so low, but she didn't admit that they weren't reading them. Lesson of the day here is that do not trust this company and their services. Always double check them because they are not in business to provide services to the water users of Salem; they only care about their own bank account. Also, the manager of the office isn't too pleasant either; her demeanor is unprofessional and you can expect eye-rolls if you question their services.
