The only reason I have given 1 star is because I had no choice. Michael Magana is the worst, most corrupt defense attorney in not only Texas, but the entire country. I truly believe that Michael Magana is getting kickbacks from the prison system in Texas, and is using that to get a conviction for all of his clients. From the smallest to the largest allegation, he is going to charge you $4000, then he will lay the groundwork to convince you to plead guilty. My brother is serving a 7 year prison sentence for something that he did not do, and Michael Magana not only did not investigate the case, he did not defend my brother, then he used myself and our mother to convince him to plead guilty. He lied and made promises that were not even remotely true or even possible. If you don't want to end up in the Texas prison system, I would not even have a consultation with this corrupt, poor excuse of an attorney!!!! You have been warned...

Do not waste your time or money! I have been trying to assist a family member while out of state for the past 4 months and am sorely disappointed with the Michael J. Magana Law Firm. I've never been to Killeen, TX so I don't know what other attorney's are available but I DO NOT RECOMMEND him. His staff is unprofessional, given the nature of me not being in town, I was forced to call multiple times daily just to get tidbits of information about my family member's case. The Attorney is either out of the office in court or in with clients...I even had one employee, get completely unprofessional, asking me if I was going to "write it down this time" after multiple inquires concerning the same client...well I wouldn't have to call so many times if I was actually able to speak to the attorney. When finally talking to the attorney he talks a good game, however, I would not trust anything he says from now on. Told me he would send discovery information to me so I would know what was going on with my family member, took my address and phone number, 3 weeks later nothing...I quit calling...But they are quick to take your payments..never received receipts (was supposed to come with discovery documents). My family member was in jail and had no idea what was going on with his case, he was calling me to see if I had gotten in contact with the attorney..the attorney rarely talked to him directly while in jail..How is that supposed to work!? So the staff pretty much treat you like a second class citizen over the phone (at least that's my perception), the attorney is hard to contact and doesn't keep his word or follow up..what kind of law firm is this...sounds to me like one that just takes advantage of people needing help...I mean, I understand it's a business too but when your thrown into a situation because of stupid stuff your family decides to do and end up paying for an attorney there is a level of expectation there that if not met leaves one to wonder what is this guy really doing...
